Or maybe I should have concentrated on ripping people off rather than building things

Possibly.....but not everybody who earns a big wage "rips people off" you know. 🙄

It's amazing how so many folk are astonished that the EU are treating us like a 3rd Country, even though that's what they voted for us to be. Welcome to the world outside of the largest trading bloc on the planet.

Feels strange saying it, but in this here London, in various sectors £80k isn’t a big wage.

It would be sad all round if something can’t be agreed. As I see it no one wins as it stands.

We win our sovereignty back, but in reality we never lost it (having the right to veto anything we didn’t like)

We will win back £350m a week that we would have paid the EU, but lose £200m a week investment they gave back to us. The NET £150m a week / £7.5bn a year, will be lost if our GDP goes backwards -1% due to new trade restrictions with the EU (-1% GDP = -£20bn = -£7.5bn tax revenue)

BREXIT likely to see -2% of GDP at least, more if it’s a harder version

Only real win is if we can pull off a comprehensive trade deal with China or the US (impossible to do both as your then a back door from one to the other). China is always hard, made harder by what’s gone on with Hong Kong. So this whole thing hinges on getting a better trade deal with the US to off set the decline with the (EU). Possible, but also now likely that the US will do a deal with the EU that we would have benefited from anyway if we were in it.

Just losers as you say, but on paper we will lose more, certainly over the next 5 years or so. Think Reece Mogg said it would take 50 years to come good, fuck that!

China won’t deal with us until we stop harping on about human rights and Hong Kong.

You know, Hong Kong, that few square miles of land we gave back to them 20 years ago and is fuck all to do with us. The sort of thing Bolty gets sore about as it reduces the empire.

The yanks will deal with us but it’ll be on their terms. Yes sir.

Aye. Breaking it down makes it more grim. Also how it was all so avoidable. I hope we are wrong obviously.

Back to you earlier comment, I work hard enough and enjoy my work of delivering construction projects. I accept my sector does not pay the sort of money some people expect. We have gone too far "services" orientated and reward those who take percentages rather than making things work; the pandemic illustrated that it is the minimum wage earners who make this country tick, not the hedge fund managers much to the Tories' dismay.

I would be happy to be an MP on 80k because it is not fuck all, however it is not in my nature to endure the abuse MPs receive these days and I probably wouldn't last long... Prescot chucking a punch would be nothing.

This Australia deal that the albino slug was waffing on about yesterday

Does that mean we can get stuff delivered on those massive Road Train lorries now instead?

because if so, he’s pulled an absolute blunder.

Leaving the Economic Union never made sense it was all about Nationalism, remember how we were told of the millions of Turks ready to pour over the Channel?

We are still sticking on national borders issue with the fishing, the UK fishing industry has been in decline since the Cod War and more people stand to lose their jobs at Debenhams than are employed in the entire fishing industry but because its Brexit and Taking Back Control its okay.

I was of course being a tad flippant yesterday. Of course £80K is not fuck all, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big wage. My point is, you're never going to attract the best paying that kind of wage, and surely we want "the best" or close to it running or country.

I agree, we are very services oriented as a nation now, but we're not gong to massively change that now. I supply to an electronic manufacturing base, so I'd love to see an increase, but it's not going to happen to a large extent.

For the record, I don't have a basic salary of £80K either 😁

I still say we should go back to the EU and say

"Sorry, we fecked up.  Can we just carry on as before and say no more about it?"

It would be a wonderfully British thing to do and save all this hassle.

But 80k is a big wage for a pretty large chunk of parliament and way above what their talents would get them out in the real world. They can't believe their luck.

Gavin Williamson was a fireplace salesman before entering parliament.

That Ben Bradley prick took 3 goes at finishing university, was a recruitment consultant for 4 months, before becoming a office manager for an MP. He's laughing his cock off at getting paid 80k to get in Twitter arguments with footballers.

Hasn't the ex PM of Australia said that the "Australia type deal" is actually a bit shit, and we should "be careful what you wish for"

.......and when did we decide v to change it from WTO to an "Australia deal" I presume that's just to make it sound more palatable

Rumours from the meeting...

"BJ went in with all guns blazing, urging VDL to sideline Barnier, claiming that he was an obstacle to a deal. VDL made it very clear to BJ that Barnier’s mandate was solid, she called his bluff."

Can't say if true or not but there are a few saying the same.

Give over, we're way beyond that. We've made a decision and now we have to make it work

Aye. The Australia deal might as well be called the Somalia deal, except Somalia have better terms than Australia.

It still mildly amuses me that they keep showing that "are you prepared" advert on TV 😁

Prepared for what exactly....
