I Wonder if this is true

I have no idea if it’s true, but if so £3,000 per person is less than £700m for sending 3 people to Rwanda.

which I suppose is marginally better than the previous lot, who just let more in, and didn't bother processing or returning any...sorry, apart form the 3 who volunteered to go to Rwanda, at cost of £700M  😜

Of course, both this lot and the last lot will attempt to manipulate the figures, no matter what they do, it's still a shitstorm, and we'll never curb the influx (of small boats), if anything, it'll just continue to rise......until more draconian measures are taken, and it seems there is no appetite for that.....apart from Reform (Ben Habib) who says we should just let them drown if they get in bother whilst making the crossing, he's a real charmer

Habib got booted out of Reform after the General Election, and has become a critic of the way Farage and Tice are running the company.

Is it though? There’s over a million here illegally. 3k a pop, I’ll leave you to do the maths, but it’s no way sustainable.

25,646 including voluntary. Not sure if they were paid 3k or  not.

Rwanda policy cost £320 million and was a deterrent, faced with the prospect of being deported further away than you started should in theory of stopped some from attempting it, all that risk to be deported elsewhere. Most of the money was a downpayment setting up the policy.

Granted this policy is different, but will cost about 110m a year (based on last years figures).. People will see it as "Get to Britain and win an extra 3k (although I dread to think how much they are charged in the first place).

Joys of politics, shame shit, different clothing, all as bad as each other.

Regardless of, as much as the champagne nationalists cry about "boat people", legal immigration has had the biggest impact of the last 20 years..

Liz Truss starting legal action for Starmer saying she crashed the economy,

Starmer having early signs that he might actually crash the economy with a debt crisis.

Seen people comparing pictures of RR from taking over to today and she looks like the jobs really taking it's toll.

I'm sure it is taking its toll, fuck knows why people want these jobs. They pay fuck all in the grand scheme of things, and the stress must be incredible

This is my thoughts, it used to be that it only really worked out for upper middle class types with money behind them, where they can just leave etc.

I know MP's are on 91k a year, but it's a 5 year stint then the chance of being dropped off, you're every move get's scrutinised. I know they get expenses paid etc, but it's still a lot of stress for what it is.

That Liz Truss legal letter is one of the funniest things I've heard in a good while.

She is now completely untethered from reality.

Thing is though she does have a legal standpoint as they are saying she crashed the economy and by official measures, it's not true.

If they had said she "fucked up" the economy she wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

She needs to just slunk back into non political life, and get a normal job away from it all

if they're any good, then they could earn far, far more in the City. That's probably part of the reason why most of them are a bit shit.

I'd much rather we had a lot less of them, and paid them a lot more, we might attract some talent then - fuck knows why we need as many as 650 MPs

It's more the fact she felt she needed to send it. It's very odd and I doubt it'll change anything and it's not a great look.

I also from all I’ve read from those in the know don’t think she has a leg to stand on from a legal perspective either.

So it would cost £3 billion to deport them all if the system continues to work.

I reckon most people would be happy with that. And it would save much more than that in the longer term I'm sure.

I also reckon they might agree to pay more tax for it

They are. Across the world. Largely thanks to the uncertainty surrounding Mr Trump's forthcoming presidency (admittedly amongst other important factors).

Ours are in lockstep with the US’s. Reeves hasn’t done a lot wrong. The problem is that the plan as many said pre election always required some global shifts that may have not happened. And they haven’t happened. Which leaves us back where we were. Low growth. Failing public services. High borrowing. And of course with borrowing costs rising since 2022 there is little scope to do anything other than cut stuff. Reeves won’t survive the cuts she will be forced to make. But whoever comes next and whoever comes after of whatever political persuasion there is no magic button to press to fix the mess. Nobody has a credible economic plan - Thatcherite neoliberal economics have run their course and unless you are pretty well off - there isn’t much hope in them. The trouble is nobody knows anything else.

You've clearly didn't read the Reform manifesto, they can get everything sorted pretty quickly, apparently.

We're at the stage where only Nigel can save us

£3bn to deport 1 million people or £700m to deport 3 people. I can see which is better value for money.

Gammons can’t demand removal of immigrants and then complain when it costs money to do it.

Plus, I read on GB News that immigrants take home £7 gazillion a week in benefits, so we’ll save massively in the long run when they go. Further, the immigrants won’t be stealing our jobs (the ones not on benefits), taking our houses and stretching our public services. So, unemployment rates will decrease, the housing market will boom, rents will decrease and it will be a doddle getting a GP appointment and being seen in A&E.

It's almost as if Brexit is why Rachel Reeves has had to go to China to try and bring in some revenue.

However, that would be traitorous talk and I would never utter it. The truth is that she wants to be a communist, or something?
