Once went to Birmingham on travel club midweek. At the time they used charter plan, based in Stockport, so they would give me a lift back to Stockport after they had dropped off in Bolton and my dad would give me a lift from there. This game, we lost and they said they had to go to Wigan, so a very irate dad had to pick me up from the taxi office in Bolton at the death of night. I wasn't very popular.

Going to Plough Lane was shite losing 4-0 on a freezing day.

I was there; but to keep it perspective I did live in London at the time.

Driving all the way down to Southend in September 96 to see us ship 5 and being the only Bolton fan there even vaguely sober. Thought it meant it was going to be a shite season - but the consolation was  I couldn't have been more wrong!

Sunderland in cup replay. Stiffs v stiffs, lost 2-0 in extra time. Why did I bother?

Personal highlight is falling down a hill in Barnsley, broken brolly in hand (to aid balance)... Muddied, inebriated, coppers refused to accept the worn soles on my courdroy Nicholas Deakins were behind it

Brentford in 1984. In the days before play offs when 2 sides could meet 6 weeks before the end of the season with nothing to play for. Went on the one coach the travel club could muster.

We looked totally disinterested. Lost 0-3 without managing a shot on goal. Ray Deakin put one in his own net just for a change and to make matters worse, all the service stations on the way back were full of obnoxious Everton fans who'd just won a cup semi final

Losing 2-0 at Wigan in 89/90 - absolutely awful performance. A few days earlier we'd beaten Notts County 3-0 at home in a brilliant performance, they being one of the top sides in the league ultimately getting promoted through the plays offs (beating us over two legs in the semis). So a massive turnout at Springfield for a Friday night match and a totally lame showing. We were 2-0 down at half time and the second half comeback amounted to Tony Philliskirk missing a pen. That resulted in abuse cascading down from the grassed slopes of the away end. Huge sense of being let down.

Night match at Charlton god knows what year but would think sometime in the 80s went on supporters club and one lad got arrested the coach ended up going to Greenwich police station to pick him up we got home about 4pm anyone else on that coach? Possibly some of Casinos crew. (pretty sure CG who owns Vulcan was on the coach)

The other that springs to mind was the Watford night match in league cup second leg after they’d beaten us at Burnden would have been early 80s I was working as an apprentice at Trafford park and managed to convince one of the other apprentices who had no interest in football (punk rocker with green Mohican)to drive there in his hillman avenger, anyhow John Mcgovern who was player manager scored and we took that brilliant Watford team into extra time only to lose eventually, there was 13 other hardy souls on the open terrace that night utter madness. ????
