That's not thinking longer term though... Longer term thinking would have been having a manager on-board in the back ground ready to step in day 1 - like we're "reliably" informed they did previously with Mark Warburton. They could have been working on targets in the back ground ready to step in.

Iles has always said that Warburton was only an adviser and there were no firm plans for him to be involved after take over. He was linked to Basran anyway.

In an ideal world Sharon Brittan would have found a manager and have them lined up - but given they don't seem to then we are where we are. I think one worry re FV might be that they are a bit naive initially with regard to football business and hopefully they'll get suitable advisers on board.

If we're going down the DoF road then there's nobody better for that role than big Sam, maybe with Nolan as his first team coach, and a young backroom team, it's about a slow and progressive improvement, and having a good business plan much the same as Preston.

IF we were in the market for an Allardyce DOF then I’d have fancied Steve Walsh previously of Leicester / Everton

He still lives in Chorley and has a great track record, bringing in the likes of Kante and Vardy etc

He would want money to spend though, as would Allardyce I’m sure, which rules them two out

More chance of Scott Green as DOF

I think expectations have run out of control again considering that only a few weeks ago having any future - long or short term - was the problem at hand. And I imagine that when they entered into the process, FV were focused on the survival of the club rather than anything else so I think it's unrealistic to expect anything other than minimal investment, perhaps with another relegation in the short term with a view to clawing our way back up the leagues over many, many years and/or getting the club shipshape and selling on at a future date to someone with the wherewithal to take us further. We should be grateful that it looks like we'll survive Anderson's tenure and anything else is a bonus rather than nitpicking over the details.

Not fancying Allardyce as DOF then?

We want to be progressive surely? So Big Sam is a no no for DoF. DoF (a proper one) should be someone with a knowledge of U23s an idea how to progress younger players, how to bring an identity of football style to the club, how to recruit players to fit that style and how to recognise untapped talent.

I would say Allardyce represents everything about the "manager runs the club" style of a football club. And he did that brilliantly. But its not where we are and a DoF needs to be someone with progressive ideas and an ability to quietly form a clear identity around the club and its style and recruit to that. Les Reed did it brilliantly at Southampton but failed previously as a manager. So whilst the two roles might not exclude people I think generally its a different skills set.

The bottom line is if they keep parky then revenue through ticket sales will be dramatically reduced and any feel good factor would be distinguished. We need a complete fresh slate and now is the best time to do it not in October.

Keith Hill has a great record of bringing youth through and he's available, can't see him wanting to be a DOF at this stage in his career though.

If we all agree the Club needs a lift after what has gone one in recent history, does keeping Phil give us the start of this lift?

Always thought of him as a mercenary and expect he would cost more money than the reduced income from ST's caused by retaining Parky.  Also think he's a bit of a one trick pony which requires big budgets and the market has changed since he was plucking mature players from obscurity as they can earn fancy money in China or the Middle East these days. Not sure what value he would add if he was constricted to spending peanuts in the lower/non leagues. Whoever runs the football side in the short term will have to be a thick-skinned miracle worker if we are to achieve any success and that isn't Allardyce IMO.

He needs to go and now, like someone said we don’t have time

we need rid of last years memories, no sentiments like wheater etc a fresh start

They cannot hire or fire....they do not own the club yet.

In fairness, I don’t think anyone is saying FV should fire PP before they even legally own the club

Its coming off the back of a Nixon story saying they will keep him on when they take over

If Parky is in the dugout come the first home game of the season the ground will be nearly empty and the atmosphere flat as a pancake. It would be the exact opposite of the upbeat and optimistic launch that I'm sure FV would be looking for, and would just feel like a continuation of last season's complete horror show.

You can blame this on our 'shit' and 'fickle' fans as much as you superior beings like, but this is the plain and simple truth.

As much as I don't like Parky's tactics and type of play, I see him getting a couple of months to see how things go, while the new owners sort themselves out. Then if its all going tits up Parky will have to be replaced October/November, by who? I don't know, this should give any new manager time before the winter transfer window to get to know his team and acquire any new players required.

Some people just look for an "excuse" not to attend. I had a touch of it last season and paid £900 for the pleasure (thinly veiled im a WSU toff)

Managers, owners, players dont matter to some, they just like to fucking moan.

I’d say we’ve gone well past moaning for moaning sake

We lost over 30 games last season, worst I’ve seen us in my 25 years

Folk have got every right to be put off by that shite

Anyone who had a season ticket last year has had ample reason to look for an excuse before now. I'm more concerned with the folk who have stuck by the club since parky was appointed and who are saying enough is enough. Dont blame them one bit.

It’s simple for me I will never say I’m not going while someone is in charge however..

When shite is being served up you look at things differently for example Doncaster at home midweek shall I bust a gut to get there, probably not

Read my digital lips - Parkinson's football is dreary. It is rank. I do not like it.

My issue is the handful of whoppers already boycotting the games before we even know what FV plan to do.

The same whoppers who were claiming they'd stick with the club through thick and thin on other tweets.

FWIW, i'm not disagreeing with anyone on here, the point about a clean slate is extremely valid and sounds good. But, we were all digging in and getting behind the lads (all 5 of them) once Ken went, weren't we?

And they’re the ones who don’t bother half the time. The hangers on. There in the prem days and when beating Peterborough etc but not there any other time. Them and their opinions can fuck off as far as I’m concerned

the issue now is, the every weekers (made up of the majority on here) when some of those begin to lose interest, which many clearly are then there’s a fundamental problem.

Were putting up with being skint. Nearly ceasing existence, the club being dragged through the mud, 3rd division football, -12 points. We’re all willing to look past those issues. But not the type of dross that is served up. That in itself tells the story

working men and women from working class backgrounds from a working class town want to be excited. Looking forward to a Saturday. Graft all week, a bit of escapism for a couple of hours. We’ve not had that and I don’t see it changing if PP remains

that’s not moaning for moaning sake. That’s being sick to fuck with being bored shitless and the one bit of hope and enjoyment being turned in to a miserable chore. And paying hard earned money for the privilege

Absolutely spot fucking on.

Aye. We all have different tolerance levels. Last year surpassed mine.

Lad doesn't want to go ever again- compare that to him leaping about when Lennon first came and we were banging in 3 against Wigan or some such.

Not only about now, but also the future

Totally agree. My son's face at times last season was heartbreaking as he jumped out of his seat at the merest hint of a Bolton attack, a big tackle - anything to get passionate about. Then sat back down as Ipswich swept up the pitch and walked it into the nets.

If we can get a team that brings that back, then we've got half the job done.

I'm just hoping FV know this. And have a plan. Sure we'll find out soon enough without having to lob bricks through the windows first.
