Site Supporter only1swanny Posted April 2, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted April 2, 2020 Hancock went into self isolation last Wednesday after PMq iirc. Boris went into isolation the day after Government guidelines state 7 days from when symptoms first appear and not to one out until the fever disappears. Judging by how he looked at PMq, he took that as his first day.

Even the top bods in the NHS said there was enough in storage, but for whatever reason the distribution was shite. I would have thought enough haulage was available to prevent shortages, but for some reason the army had to be brought in. This set up will need to be reviewed for sure. We even had a situation a day or two back with front line staff at odds with their own hospital management and saying they may have to reduce a&e service, as supposedly stuff wasn't getting to them/being requisitioned enough. This whole system of supply seems to require some sort of overhaul as part of a planned nationwide emergency response. Seems to me the biggest oversight has been about protecting those who look after the sick, as opposed to looking after the sick

Traf made a pertinent point about this, how often would nursing staff need to be tested? Perhaps blondie or Kent could shed some light. Clearly theres not enough tests or labs to process them to do both Fwiw, the 'have you got it test' is a bit of a waste of time, imo Potentially, a nurse is going to need testing tens and tens of times before we get through them all We are never to have the capacity to do this For me, it looks like until we get the antibody test, the chosen strategy is to hope for the best On PPE, the tories either lied about the availability, or they massively fucked up on delivering it Either way, im not buying excuses My first hand knowledge is of a nhs building that has currently received just two boxes of masks Theres over 30 staff, so thats 3 each

Mounts Kipper
It’s madness if we’ve not enough face masks, send some freight planes to China and fly them back full to the brim.
Members bolton_blondie
We've for 4 full time nurses off with syptoms at the moment. It's back breaking and mentally draining at the moment. Trying to explain to 87 yearr old 'Ethal' for the 6,000 time why she can't just 'nip to M&S' 'why do you need that mask on?' 'bloody daft, all I want to do is go and have my perm' Is the reason I'm drinking on a school night.

Did you see the article about these machines that can do a test in 90 minutes? Whether it's feasible to test nurses at the end of their shift using one of these I don't know. At least they'd know whether to stay home before the start of their next shift.
