Have a look at the second graphic on this page.

What it is saying is that at current rates - the NHS will not be able to accept any new patients by Christmas week. Mid December for the North West.

And that's including surge capacity, cancelling non urgent surgery, using the nightingales and reducing non COVID inpatient numbers by 50%.

Any prime minister looking at that and not taking decisive action shouldn't be in the job.

It's unthinkable!

Can we not send any extra people to Sweden? They’ll have tons of capacity by Christmas.

"A key difference this time is the government's science advisers called for a circuit-breaker six weeks ago.

The price of delay is cases are higher and we have missed the boat for doing it at the same time as school holidays for extra impact. It means we may have to lockdown for longer.

The spring lockdown did bring cases down. A lockdown now would be expected to do the same"

Whatever happens it looks like my leave is being cancelled - for the third time this year 😁

NHS unable to take accept patients

Let that sink in for a minute. As it stands if you or your family need admitting to hospital over Christmas - you're on your own.

Shambles.

I'm drinking in London today, just near Covent Garden. Other than a few masks, you wouldn't know there was much of an issue. It's nuts. This pub I'm in, is rammed, more than six to a table folk stood at the bar...... Its supposed to be Tier 2 here, I can see why we need to shut boozers now (down here anyway)

Whatever happens next, they need to put everything into getting testing up to the levels it needs to be

Don’t we test more than anyone else in Europe?

And capacity is a tad under 500,000/day

Out of 5.6m people, the south west has 33 people in ventilated beds with the virus.

They shouldn’t be locked down

Dunno

They didn't test my nan in law before sending her home last week after she had been positive

The mrs has ordered a test that arrived today as she was told she had to isolate, best we can expect is results back by Friday

Not really good enough imo

With that testing capacity and a world leading 12 billion quid (and rising) app, its amazing we haven't got this thing under control
