Nursing homes/care homes/etc

Had a call earlier with that bloke who works for me who is currently volunteering in A&E up in that Scotch Land

Number of things he told me

1. You only need one qualified nurse of a certain level in a care home (I assume he means banding and I didn’t ask which level) so many are very junior

2. Care home nurses are unlikely (in the main) to have been trained to the level needed when dealing with Covid 19

3. This virus is the nastiest fucker he has ever seen. Sweep’s experience is possibly only a “moderate” version of what some folk go through. He’s lost people on the resus table and saved a few through extreme emergency measures

4. His most telling comment was “care homes are not A&E”. They don’t carry the type of kit needed to “save” a lot of these patients. Folk in there are massively vulnerable and you aren’t going to be able to emergency intubate someone in those places. This virus has hit people at a level he has never seen in 30 years working in A&E. Care homes are “end of life” places and the care is palliative not rescue

Feel free to disagree but no surprise to me that the figures from these places are so horrendous. You could throw a container load of kit at them but basically they aren’t set up to deal with this virus. Normal flu, pneumonia, etc, fine, they can cope. This fucker, no way

I reckon she'd sort you out a splendid breakfast in the morning

As long as you don't mind her tits sloshing about in your beans as she serves it to you.

... and then leaving two bean juice skid marks across the tablecloth.

Its perhaps fair to point out theres care homes and nursing homes

It is a very fair point but the same points apply regarding skill levels and available equipment. This virus is nasty and needs top level kit and experience. My bloke (not that way you gaysters) is massively experienced at resus, intubation, respiratory emergency, etc. He’s part time in an A&E unit. He’s the most experienced in there at the moment. He’s done 3 consecutive 65 hour weeks on nights so this is his week off but he’s on standby. That’s an A&E dept. Care homes, nursing homes, hospices, etc, haven’t got a fucking chance with this. Very sad

Not having a go at you by the way cas, just re-emphasising just how shit this situation is
