miamiwhite Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 And follow up the news above with the announcement made by Mologic in the last couple of hours, things are moving quickly now. Quote
Guest Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Nick Stripe @NickStripe_ONS · 7h But death registrations data is what will eventually allow us to compare e.g. ISTAT (Italian stats agency) yesterday brought out data for deaths in March. It showed 25k excess deaths and almost double those attributed to COVID previously We've just reported up to 24 April Quote

Comparable international data is not yet available Quote

Apparently my neices don't need to be tested as they're below a certain age. Quite glad about that to be honest, because the proper test is fucking awful by all accounts. past 3/4 days ive been past them on the hotel carpark about 10 times and never anyone there are they not open yet Quote
Tombwfc Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 It's fair enough to say that there have to be certain caveats when discussing international comparisons, until the true picture emerges from every country. It's bollocks to say that the above renders any comparisons at all as being irrelevant. There's a reason we're trying to emulate Germany and South Korea now and not Italy or Spain. Equally, it's perfectly factual to say that we currently have the highest death numbers in Europe, based on available data. I'm sure if we had the lowest numbers, the same would be being said. The government themselves have always had a slide comparing countries at every briefing - their credibility has only become a point of contention the closer we've got to the top. Quote
e2e4 Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 think ive been out more *now* than the previous 6 weeks pre-lockdown. frigging spooky being outside. i just hope if i die from being knocked over or brained from a falling roof tile or W/E they dont pad the numbers for whatever reason. i've not been ill since november iirc. "covid19 kills folk dead, but the rest of the population are asymptomatic but have coronavirus "* like that episode of spongebob where the magic conch tells them to stay put to be rescued. or spiderman pointing at spiderman telling him he shouldnt be outside. its all very contradictory to follow . * not an actual quote. ErnestTurnip Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Don't know how accurate it is but the story about the three Russian doctors who have complained about PPE and the way things are being done in Russia and have all accidentally fallen out of windows is a belter. Quote

When you've got people forgoing their livelihoods or suffering massive from anxiety... Keep it in your pants for a few weeks or stay at your actual house FFS. Quote

Had to go her deputy is a fuckwit. Worst public speaker I’ve seen. Truly bad Quote

Casino Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Yeah but, it's because Italy eat a lot of pasta Seriously, I'm thinking the upside is it's likely there's been many more infected than earlier estimated Which is good Quote

They might have spent an hour with the poorly kid in the background, then 10 seconds posing for a photo with the lad in the skull shirt (who I'm assuming is the poorly kids brother). Who knows, or cares? What makes you think that photo is even relevant? Quote
Tombwfc Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 If he's the best we have, then I'd have thought the amount of lives his input could save would outweigh the 0 people who'd bin off lockdown purely because a scientist had someone round for a shag. Quote
