They didn't fare too well pre-game either so it obviously wasn't "the game/result" A coach came past the pub (Blue Bell maybe?) and it was scientifically proven that an unopened can of beer will go through coach window. We didnt take "loads", probably 1,500, they only gave us half of the terrace under the main stand, and some seats. They had a biggish open terrace behind the goal then and if we'd been taking loads they would have surely given us that. Good cup tie atmosphere, Bryan Hamilton was player manager and I think he scored. Replay was one of the coldest I've ever known at Burnden, absoulutely freezing sat in Lever End, and went to extra time, but we won 4-1 and Chandler scored a fantastic lob. I can remember those games better than I can last season's. 83, does not seem that long ago, remember the away game but can’t remember the home game although I would have been present. It was only the middle of November.

Nobody gave it a thought then, and the attendances were roughly the same if playing a lower division team and higher for an attractive game. We beat Mansfield in 2nd round in front of a decent crowd (Neil Whatmore played for them) and Sunderland in 3rd round, which was biggest attendance of season about 12k. Watching football was cheap in those days, i went most games in the 80s home and away following a poor Bolton side, it was just an habit to have a good day out with your mates on the lash after the drudgery of work in some shite job. Site Supporter Spider Posted January 31, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted January 31, 2020 Didn’t Wembley play the noise of their fans through the pitch side speakers in 1991? Or is my mind playing tricks? either way, I hope we smash them
gonzo
Remember Aldridge jumping over the hoarding and goading our lot at theirs 94’ish. Then there’s the semi final and the 100 points game. Plus Chris Malkin. Fuckin cunts these lot.

There had always been an element of Bolton being pissed off with the Friday night favourite tag but think it was really the called off game that made it more serious. For the younger ones game was called of late and a few still turned up they got picked off by the previous invisible Tranmere mob. Would not be surprised if they bring a few Saturday. Plenty of us turned up for that called off game. I remember the Cunts lobbing bricks at the Cars as we headed back towards the Mersey Tunnel. They ran away like little girls as soon as we opened the Car doors.

This will be a League 2 fixture next season and hopefully we'll bring a much bigger following in more positive circumstances.

It won't be more positive for Bolton next season. The transfer and wage embargo will still be in full effect all next season meaning the first team will be filled with youths who should be playing youth football and short term loans signed on deadline day.The only long term contracts being given out are punts on tier 7 and below players

Those bus drivers heading up your way have absolutely no protective clothing on, despite medical people adjacent to them wearing full protection. Now, if any of those drivers get off the buses and mix with others who then go home, then there may be issues. Please wear masks tomorrow if that happens.
