As to give a prime example (even though he's Australian) a Trump 'supporter' like Bolty keeps saying Hip Pocket Nerve, when in actuality the US economy is doing really well. It's things that people who like Trump say without context as they've heard it elsewhere.

It's emotionally based support, and on that Trump is brilliant at leveraging.

Whether you think that makes for good leadership sort of depends of if you like facts or personality.

People dismissing Trump supporters as bonkers are missing the fact that over 50% of voters have voted for him.

They are not all mad, a bit like over here the 'clever' one telling the 'thick' ones they are stupid is half the problem Remember the other side put up a man who could hardly speak and was clearly in decline and only swapped him out when he looked like getting beat.

I'm thinking about the turnout - in terms of % of those groups above that did vote in the swing/rustbelt states against overall population - broadly that's the parties supporter base, esp given the economy is doing well (but as the Regan cliche goes if you're explaining, you're losing)

As Raine says I think a lot of this lies at Biden's door to try and run again and then drop out given his loooooooow popularity rating and then Harris was the only choice available.
