Site Supporter MickyD Posted December 1, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted December 1, 2021 I was an AED instructor. The fire service use the same defibrillator you’d find on a community centre wall or a supermarket. The instructions are all in pictures or simple steps. Important - The patient must have CPR during the setting up. Compress the middle of the chest-bone around 4” or 10 cm. Aim for a speed of 100 compressions per minute. Find Pad A and stick it on the patient’s chest in the middle of the breast bone. Find Pad B and stick it on the left side of the patient’s chest under his arm and approximately where the lowest rib is. Once the pads are applied, the AED will commence analysis of the patient and a synthesised voice will give instructions. One thing, the patient may still die even with AED intervention but they’ll almost certainly die without it.

Mounts Kipper
Super mild version, this was known last week, just a scaremongering tactic by the government to make you get your jabs. Its clear to me and the doctor at the epicentre that this mutation is a mild version, thats not translating into high deaths and that’s in a country with 24% vaccinated, that suggests that in a country where the vaccine levels are much higher that this won’t cause serious issues. I therefore deduce it’s a scare tactic to try to get folk to get jabbed.

Your article is 2 days old, the one Casino links to is 5 hours implying it's more up to date. "I therefore deduce" that your PhD in medicine might not be a real one, Herr Doktor. stevieb
Christmas do cancelled. That's 20 odd hotel rooms, 20 odd meals and a shit load of drinks not getting bought. Scare tactics are working 🎣

Multiply that by 100,000 works do's being potted and it's a fair lump of cash. How does the exchequer losing that money fit in with a scare tactic? Because I'm not at all sure it does. I think people read far too much into shit like this because they're bored/boring.
Not in Crawley
I think our place is still making a decision about the Xmas do. Fir my part I'd run it and if you are unsure don't attend. We've got a lot of staff who are flying home to see family in other countries, I can totally get why they don't want unnecessary mixing, some of them haven't seen their folks in over a year. But for those of us who aren't and are comfortable, crack on.

Great news as I wasn't going anyway, so we'll probably all end up with a voucher or something, so it's a win for me. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 2, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted December 2, 2021 It is possible that both those articles on that link are valid. However, as has been mentioned before, we and many developed nations have older populations so the direct comparison is dangerous and its perfectly reasonable to have some temporary caution. If the government were utilising it as a means for more folk to get vaccinated, then why is that wrong? The only reason to be vaccinated is the existence of the virus itself, and we've been encouraged to get it from the off- the suggestion that it's now some underhand tactic is devoid of common sense. Moreover, if it wasn't believed to be for the good of the nation, they wouldn't be spending a bloody fortune on free jabs for us all. As it happens, we've used the whole vaccination programme to good effect and opened up our society so that it is no longer necessary to leave our lockdown areas to go for a meal elsewhere. Just get the fucking thing, and save the wide rolls of foil for the bastard turkey.

These are people we are forced to spend half of our waking hours with, most of whom we simply wouldn't socialise with under any other circumstances. I'd say 90% of the ones I've been on have ended up creating more friction than existed previously. I've seen fights, divorces & sackings as a result of the Xmas works do. I dread it.
