Wanderlust Posted March 11 Posted March 11 We’ll see how he goes on but on the surface this looks to be a great addition to the team. What surprised me was SL fans going on line to say how gutted they were about losing him. Quote

Our Finance Director had a fit last week because I pulled in some work MK Dons and their accounts are terrible... although they've just been acquired by a Kuwaiti Consortium and are on a spending spree... he said the same about Birmingham City when I took on some work there! When you spend £1 mill plus on an asset who then breaks a leg or whatever... Quote
Bertie Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Doesn’t sounds good at face value. I’m not an accountant though. Can anyone ITK provide any positivity from these figures? (Apart from what Iles has reported that they would have been worse had we gone up due to promotion bonuses 😳). Quote
Cheese Posted March 31 Posted March 31 The auditor’s report also included a favourable view of the club’s future financial condition. It read: “Despite the loss to June 30, 2024, the Group has a sound financial base from which to further improve the business. The Group is reliant on funding from its shareholders and such funding has been and continues to be made available from the shareholders when required.” It continued: “At the time of approving the financial statements, the directors have a reasonable expectation that the group has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.” Quote
frank_spencer Posted March 31 Posted March 31 If we'd not signed that stump Randall and taken so long to bin off evatt and his lackeys I'd be more positive about the next batch of accounts. Quote
Eddie Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) They don’t particularly paint a pretty picture. We managed to increase average attendances by ~2.2k (12%) Revenue was up ~£1.9m (10%) Thats about where the good news ends. Despite revenue increasing, our gross profit decreased by £0.4m and our EBITDA (cash loss, excluding accounting waffle) increased from about £4.8m to £7.7m. This is mainly due to wages being up by nearly £3m, which of course will be wholly due to the players (although it’s not formally split). We raised a paltry sum of £166k from player sales - this is a big problem, we need to be selling players to be sustainable! On the flip side we spent £1.6m on buying players (mainly Collins I would imagine). We also spent £2.9m on capex that apparently isn’t the stadium or academy - no idea what that related to? All that means cash flow was far from ideal and the shareholders put £11.5m in. Since then, Sharon put £1.5m more in Feb-25 and Michael James also put £0.5m in. I’d say that lack of promotion, and the increased revenues it would have brought, was a massive kick in the teeth. We are as reliant as ever on someone propping us up - I’m just glad it’s Sharon (I think). Edited March 31 by Eddie Quote
Farnywhite Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) The turn over of 21 million is comparable to 19 of the championship clubs of for 22/23 season who averaged 22 million Turn over . League one revenue was averaged at 9.8 million so we’re doubling most clubs .most clubs averaged losses of 5 million ( up from 2.2 million from the previous season ) Derby county lost 30 million . so you could say we double the income and double the losses of most in the division Edited March 31 by Farnywhite Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Too much doom and gloom. The investors have put money in and have shares. They could choose to sell up if they wanted, but can't just grab money from the club. They don't have to keep putting in additional money either, in which case the club would have to find others or make cuts. When we owe money to HMRC, banks etc and can't pay it back, then I'll start worrying. Until then, crack on. Quote

They know that ultimately they need to fund it, it’s not coming from banks and other than player sales it’s not coming from the trading of the football club, so if you’re increasing the playing budget and if you’re spending money on buying players then ultimately that’s up to them, they don’t have to spend that money if they didn’t want to / couldn’t. A number of employees got together and decided to invest in a club (us) and put their own cash in. Bit like having a hobby- but a costly one. The worst that could happen is that they may decide they need to access cash, and decide to sell their shares. Quote
Popular Post thebells Posted March 31 Popular Post Posted March 31 They manage a small number of extremely high wealth pension / investment funds. Bolton are one of their diversified investments. It’s a low risk / big reward investment in Bolton. IF we get to the championship, they’re prepared to invest heavily to reach the top flight, as they can then make hundreds of millions. And they’ll continue to invest what they see as reasonable money at this level. If it doesn’t happen (I’d guess within 2-3 years but only speculating) then I’d expect they’ll sell their shares for whatever they’re worth. And we’ll have new owners. Or Sharon will find new backers. Clubs of our size can bob around at this level for a while, and there’s no given right for us to be promoted. We’re safe at the moment and they’ll back SS this summer. We’ll go up eventually. One more thing. Those criticising Sharon for backing Evatt for so long. I understand the thought process. But to offer an alternative view, that show of loyalty may be what has allowed us to attract a manager of SS’s calibre. Just playing devils advocate. I’m confident SS will lead us out of this division, without headbutting any opposition players or being abusive to people he works with. Who knows, he might even keep his pants on when making face time calls. Quote
