Brand Evatt

She says "on all platforms" and highlights Evatt and Hart.

I'm sure she's bitten her tongue for a long while at the abuse Hart gets and, as I've pointed out often, the SB fans need to realise Hart is doing what she wants and the criticism of one is of them both.

In the modern world of texts, tweets (I'm not saying X's) is so easy to be unconstructive yet hide whilst doing it.

I'm sorry, is the club threatening bans to people here who give Hart and Evatt a bit of stick? Even online?

Get fucked. Who's the barometer of the nastiness? Is there an objective metric or just if one of them gets their feelings hurt?

It's pathetic for me this. This sort of softness from top to bottom is the reason we get spanked in big games against rivals that are far more up for it than we are.

Probably a thin vein of truth in this, but unless we know the exact nature of what's being said, and perhaps are exposed to it putaelves, then we aren't best placed to make such a generalised statement.

100% behind Sharon on this.  Went to first away of season at Burton and the foul/disgusting abuse some of our “fans” were spouting at our own players/staff is bang out of order.  Yes we’d been spanked by Wigan and yes wasn’t a great game, but no excuse.  Would those same folk (or their managers with a duty of care) tolerate this at their work if they were having an off day? No.  Passion and criticism is one thing but foul mouthed, really personal abuse is another. Grow up. Short memories? We nearly didn’t have a club 4 years ago. We won at Wembley 4 months ago.  We’ve been in the top 3 all season so far.  These folk need to give their heads a wobble or stop coming.  And no, I’m not a snowflake. And yes I’ve been watching donkeys years (since ‘76) and seen ups/downs.  And yes I’m expecting this post to get abuse as well!

Going to try and be careful that I don’t get personal - although from those comments you wouldn’t mind. 😊

This all stems from misplaced negative, uniformed opinion which then for a minority crosses the line to abuse.

I’ve no idea which category you fall into, but I do know from your Ashes rants that you very much jump on the negative and make wildly misplaced overly critical predictions/observations . You were convinced it was going to be 5-0 😊

The point in case for this debate is that I disagree that this is pathetic, that we are soft from top to bottom and that there is a difficult barometer for abuse.

We don’t have to hear what the abuse is. It’s happened and they are dealing with it.

But no doubt other people will be rubbing their hands that there’s something “negative” that they can jump on to make more predictions of doom.

Prob happens most weeks tbf, but seemed moreso on Saturday.  A general trend I think.  For me it’s the bipolar nature of some fans and how angry they get so quickly. One minute it’s all “super Ian Evatt” etc…..the next after one dodgy pass it’s red screwed-up faces hurling dogs abuse directly in the ears/faces of our players eg. “f*** off you f****** s*** c***”.  Prob reflects society as a whole and hence don’t know how you stop it…..but hats off to Sharon for calling it out.

Absolutely.

Wonder what would happen if spot drug wipes were introduced, bit like for drivers?

So if the comment is:

”Fuck off Evatt you fat bastard, Wigan now Burton, have you been betting on us to lose you Cunt”

Why on earth are they going to say it and shine light on personal issues and fuel the fire for the Ferals?

To be honest even the milder stuff takes a certain kind of person

”We’re shit Evatt, no backbone, sort it fucking out” - As if somehow you are enlightening him and he’s going to make a mental note that that fan had a point.

That 2nd type of comment are ten a penny and said daily, so I doubt it’s anything of that nature. The 1st category and worse will be the type of stuff we’re talking about and it’s understandable why it’s not going to come out in public.

I was at Burton and heard no OTT abuse at all, certainly nothing that nearly crossed the line.

We do have a bloke sat behind us at home games who turns on certain players for very little. Others players his faves never a word is said.

in terms of Sharon's note the key is the level of abuse. I pay my money and I do think that gets me the right to criticise any aspect of the club. It does not give me the right to launch personal vitriolic abuse at anyone.

Sharon has a view of the club as a community and part of that is showing a level of respect to each others. If that does not happen it could ultimately lead to her and FV walking away, not saying that is pending but it could happen.

We do have some feral cunts "supporting" us. Seen some right nasty bastards who haven't got a clue about football. And I don't mean the AHM or Redcliffe's lot either......

We are no better or no worse than any other football club of our size.

100% fact.

Not condoning abuse but if that did happen regarding Sharon & FV then it’s the wrong business for them as you will encounter some form at any club

According to FB, there were a few choice exchanges between Evatt & a few in our seats nearby.

Evatt was apparently giving it back too.

It very unusual for Evatt to be near our support at away games as away fans are nearly always situated behind the goal.

I was in the seats and heard nothing that you could call abuse. I shouted once ‘Evatt stop these short corners’ but doubt he will listen to the fans

I do feel that if something has happened that's been bad enough to release a statement specifically referencing it then they perhaps should have provided some examples within reason and where possible.

If it's online and has been directed at players/staff/families etc then name and shame them as other clubs have done in the past, ban them if it's that bad. Without that we're left with a vacuum of people wondering what's gone on and what's being evaluated as going too far.

I know your last paragraph is kind of an extreme worst case scenario thing but I see where you're coming from. They are doing great work in the community, and trying to build up the "family club" environment and I love what they've done for us and will still do in future, but I do sometimes wonder if that really can ever fully reconcile with a club from a town like Bolton. Its like they want to foster an atmosphere and a following (particularly away) with an edge, but not too much of an edge. I dunno, I'm rambling. I've not eaten yet.
