Even stranger, cinemas can open, theatres can’t. What’s the difference other that on-stage live action?

The on-stage live action is the reason they have stated they cant open yet. They can open if they are going to play a recorded performance though

Because actors can’t help themselves grollying into the audience.

Theatres and Gym's both involve people expelling droplets, either during exercise or via the actors projecting their voices into the audience.  Whereas once people are distanced in a cinema they're hopefully* keeping their mouths shut and watching the film.

The choir meet in Washington State will have had an impact on these decisions. Enclosed spaces with people shouting, singing or declaiming sonnets are likely excellent opportunities for mass spreading events. Likewise gym classes.

There was a guy from Total Fitness on before complaining, but the decision looks common sense to me.

Same reason as singing in churches is still not allowed, as they're basically spraying their phlegm everywhere when singing,/speaking

The transport secretary says more news on travel corridors on the 29 June. I doubt TUI and Jet 2 are glad to be waiting till next Monday!

More job losses at Jet 2 today.

They've also just pulled a load f routes from their schedules, meaning more holiday cancellations.

Prior to the last fortnight I knew no-one who had tested positive, that's now at 5 - 2 as a couple, 3 individuals.

All are in lower risk groups and only 1 was properly ill, the rest showed one or more symptoms so went to get tested.

Two of the 5 claim to have been strictly following guidelines but knowing them only 1 will have been doing so.

Two of the people were tested over Burnley way, 2 at Middlebrook, 1 in Manchester and they all said that apart from the medical folk they didn't see anyone else getting testing or waiting to be tested.

We have to relax things, folk will be fine, folk will be ill, folk will die - depending on which group you and your friends and family are in will determine how you judge the whole thing I suppose.

I’m early 30’s, run three times a week. I was running up to 12 miles on Saturday’s and then both myself and my partner developed a dry cough. My partner lost all taste and smell, I felt like I had been hit by a truck and it took me weeks to recover. A month later and I couldn’t run down the street, my lung capacity was completely shot.

Neither of us have been tested but I commute into London daily and exit via Oxford Circus, one of the busiest stations on the network, my partner teaches and she has contact with hundreds of kids on a daily basis. I’m confident we’ve had it.

I rarely, if ever get sick and I’d never taken a day off work through illness. This was something else, more than just a cold or flu. If this was later in life it could well have bowled me over.

This isn’t just going to push old frail people over the line, it’s going to rob a sizeable amount of people of their lives. I concur that people will take their own circumstances and let that form their decision making, but I was previously in the ‘I’ve probably had it and not known/better to just get it’ camp. My experience has completely changed all of that..

Kids are super spreaders!

I had it for about 6/7 days, nobody else in the house caught it, took me about 3 weeks to build my stamina back up again for walking, but that was me really pushing myself.

I'm still hearing people saying "it's fake".

My Mrs  ( works NHS) has just tested positive in the antibody test at work. She was ill through Jan & Feb but was told to just get on with it at work. Myself & daughter who live in the same house had no symptoms at all.

But you may have had it...

Are you now entitled to an antibody test?

Wifes not had it, so rest of us assume we havent, either

Still people telling others that they shouldn't be doing exactly the same thing that they're doing themselves then I see. 🙄
