This was a game we were hot favourites to win but the manner of it combined with results elsewhere makes it feel like a significant day. Suddenly we are third. We are still unbeaten at home (not sure I can remember us getting this far in to the season unbeaten at home since the big 96/7 season), best goal difference in the league joint with Cardiff, three league wins on the spin. This is now November so it's all for real. Next up a titanic encounter with the team directly above us in front of what is likely to be a near sell out. A great place to be and we have that priceless feeling of footballing optimism for both the immediate and medium term future. Its the stuff that makes you want Saturdays to come around quickly But lets keep our focus - club and fans alike. The division is opening for us ... lets make it count week in week out as we head in to the key winter months.9 likes

Loved today, not only because of our result/performance and all the other results going our way, but that was only my oldest daughters 2nd game watching us. Sheâs just never really taken to it, but today she was hooked and that was some much needed one on one time together that we needed. Thatâs 3 Iâve made that are now fully on board. Job done đ Great having demps back, keep him fit and he can be the difference of an automatic position instead of the playoff positions. I seriously canât do another playoff. ACD another level yet again, such a positive player love watching him. COYWM up the football league we go.8 likes

Great interview, speaks really well and sounds genuinely committed. His experience and willingness to pass it on to other squad members could be a big help in us being successful.6 likes

Asked my lad as he was going off, would he rather have ACD or Bradley already knowing the impact he had for us I didnât think any loan player would have the same if not better effect on the team that Bradley did but ACD does for me. the goals and assists and how fundamental he is to us at the minute is beyond what I expected5 likes

Kyle Dempsey is everything that Joel Randall isnt, hopefully stays fit now as could really push us forward with two decent players for that position in Dempsey and Forss5 likes

My summary of the day - Leeds Ring Road was shut . M62 was shut . Both on way over, left home at 11:45, got to ground after 2:30. Assumed start of a bad day. First 25-30 minutes thought I had it spot on Vale pushing and harrying, keeper made some saves !! Johnston one superb block. Became clear they were very open especially down our left. ACD and Burstow not in game. Cissoko main outlet, Christie looked slow. Burstow gets in game lays back to ACD 1-0, probably against run of play. We started to play wellâŚvery well at times. Sheehan a player I have criticised was playing on front foot picking up ball in the final third and dictating play. Simons bags the 2nd, ACD back in the game, easy to miss how good the lay off was, lovely strike by the X man. Second half, Vale pushing but very short lived. We just play good sustained football. Christie has hit the elixir of youth at half time he is like a young Conner Bradley up the right wing. Burstow gets involved again ADC bags again. Subs start coming in. ADC turns provider Dempsey is back, great moment. Stay till the end, stay to clap players off, half an hour sat on car park but listening to Bolton FM just laughing. Motorway slow rather than closed on way home. Get home only 7 hours after I left home. Yoof and g/f come for curry. I get a free beer when collecting and 3 After Eight mints. Missus picked a shit film, think I will go on Wways and post a very long post about today. And still there are fireworks scaring the dogs.4 likes

Port Vale had the first 25 mins and deserved a goal or 2, but from them on it was a deserved win, I thought Cissoko did a lot of good today, but with his stepovers it's not proper fluent, ACD did one second half and with pace and forced a corner from keeper, I just would like Cissoko to do his tricks a little more quicker, he clearly can take a player on and his cross led to the first goal, so it's only a nit pick today, Randall was not in the game at all, Burstow was quiet but played a part in 2 goals. Dempsey in the 10, Gale to come back, given the points we've dropped when we should have won earlier in season, we are in a good space right now, 2 points of top, who we should have beaten in that first half on opening day, so we've taken more points of other teams than them, which is a positive, Bradford come to us next out of winning form. I don't know what ACD's ceiling is, but it's not League 1, 2 goals, 2 assists and I wouldn't say he was our main focus of attack at all today, he just as that wow factor, he's truly awesome.4 likes

Any win will do. Would be nice to get the GD up but I'd be happy with a scrappy 1-0 home win.4 likes

Anyone who genuinely believes Tel Aviv fans were banned from Villa Park "because they're Jewish" is an absolute fucking moonman.3 likes

Sharon did say that the club was going to provide crayons and colouring books for people in them two blocks đ3 likes

So some of the most notorious groups of hooligans in football have been allowed to Villa park for decades yet all of a sudden theyâve banned one teams fans who happen to be Jewish.3 likes

Here's mine Was in Rhodes last week and the week before....got chatting with some Southerners by the pool bar. One recognised the dulcet tones of Boltonian Said he knew a well known face here and came up here in the 90's to meet the said face and drank with us on Daubhill and many other places Rob from Luton is mates with Ste Winny......we all chatted a few hours later via social media The world is very small folks, and very short too, please enjoy it âĽ2 likes

Very tight league ATM, but there are no stand out big clubs, i.e Birmingham and Wrexham with their money. We are now 3/1 favs to win the thing. Going up thus season is a must!2 likes

T'other one i can think of was walker getting Injured against swansea 92-93 season, missing most of the 93/94 season, then leaving for Celtic. Convinced we'd have gone up that year if he was fit, him and Mcginlay we the best scoring partnership i'd seen in years2 likes

We were poor for the fist 25 mins and could well have conceded. Confidence grew after the 1st goal. Sissoko must be a nightmare to play against, however for all his entertaining trickery, he's not great at kicking the ball. All good across the back. Sheehan grew into the game and bossed it in the end. ADC is a joy at this level. He will not play in div 1 next year. As others have said, dempsey was the polar opposite of what Randall serves up. Everyone has seen enough of JR to know that he hasn't got what it takes. We have a deep squad and healthy competition in several positions. We were purring for the last 30 mins or so. Confidence is high. Happy days!2 likes

A fact is Villa have never had to refuse tickets to an away team before. This is a club that hosts some of the most hostile derbies in the country, all of a sudden this game was to dangerous. A game between 2 clubs that havenât met before. Weird hey2 likes

thought Forss was bringing it home today anyway the main positive for me was the return and performance of Dempsey - with his injury probelms, have refused to pin any hopes on him coming back and being as good as we know he can be - but that today was everything we need in a #10 and everything Randall and McAtee are not if he can stay fit, we become so much better up top2 likes

Ignoring the first 20 minutes or so that was probably the most complete performance weâve had under Schumacher. Good individual performances round but a special mention to both fullbacks and of course Duberry who was outstanding again.2 likes

Just back on the Fylde Coast, after a sticky 20 mins where TSL put the 'doesn't save much' thing to bed, brilliant performance from 1-11 and subs, great entertainment, some of the football we played was outstanding. Could well have been 6 or 7 but a handsome win nonetheless. Things to enthuse about across the board. Great moment for Dempsey, made up for him2 likes

Pleased also for Cissoko who's taken longer to settle than Gale & ACD. Showing there's a player there.2 likes

Proper snow too. Big fat flakes that stuck - perfect for snowball fights, shit for watching football. Worst thing was Reidy was done for us and Everton signed him cheap because of the injury theyâd given him.2 likes

It was NYD, 1979. Game was rearranged for April (we won, 3-1). We also played them at home on Boxing day 1979, the following season.2 likes

This needs to be a win regardless of how it is achieved. The longer we preserve this unbeaten home record the more solid the base we are building. Same levels of focus and concentration as against Cardiff are required - that is how consistency comes about.2 likes

Erhahon was doing a Q&A with SJM in the 1877 suite before the Huddersfield match and said he would be back for the Stevenage match but as thatâs now postponed he has an extra week to recover so he can kick Sarcevicâs arse.2 likes

Had a mate growing up all through primary and secondary and in to our early twenties. Had always been close and was the only friend i still had from the early days. With work Women and Families, rellocation (him to Scotland me to Cambridge) we had lost touch though. About ten years ago me and my Mrs decided to go to Florida, planned it all ourseleves and booked it all seperatly. Staying in a good spot off i-drive between the theme parks but really needed a car to get about. We dont have kids so booked to avoid school holidays. One day after we had been at Universal i happened to check FB and this mate had posted a picture of him and his family in a spot that looked familiar to a place i had seen that day. Decided to message, jokingly asking if he was in Florida, as given he has 3 kids i thought it was from an earlier trip. Turns out he was as Scotland have different holidays (which i hadnt known when booking), so suggested meeting somewhere we could both drive to, but he didnt rent a car and was using the busses. No bother mate we will head to you one day, where you staying, turns out the exact same hotel in the next block. Helped reignite our old friendship, see each other now a few times a year at least. Meeting him today at the match in fact as he is a Vale fan. Will be starting my pilgrimage soon!2 likes
