Made life hard for ourselves yet again by not putting the game to bed much earlier. Seemed to coast through the 2nd half for the most part without the same level of intent. Most important thing is 3 points which I’ll take what I won’t take is a player in a white shirt being cheered off the pitch. Going to do fuck all for Randall and his clearly already brittle confidence and if you were part of it your a fucking muppet16 likes

Never in a million years. We have some utter dicks watching us. Didn't do much wrong today the lad. He might not look the part but fuck me he doesn't deserve half the grief he gets.10 likes

Thought Randell had one of his better games for us today and did some good passes think he lacks a bit of confidence but would come good if the crowd got off his back his effort was no worse than anyone else there isn't one player in our side that does not give the ball away or a bad cross more than once in a game10 likes

Duberry I felt had probably his worst game for us today until the winner, yet the match was just another indication of why he's so important to play the whole game. He can be quiet for 90 minutes, but in extra time how many points has he won us now? Sheehan got the 2 goals but just look at him pressing their centre half in the build up for the winner. He's been labelled a soft touch in the past, but he's a real fighter along with his ability to dictate and dominate matches. Special mention to Dalby, gave us another dimension when he came on and had their centre halves struggling. As for the main taking point, Randell. I personally don't think he's good enough and hasn't delivered in the nearly 12 months he's been here now and for the 1.2 million we spent on him. I do think as fans we love a scapegoat and there's a lot of fans out of there hoping he does something wrong to prove their points. But also, there's some out there giving him extra praise, just because his performance may have been better than performances in the past. But being honest, when his previous games have been say a 3 or 4/10 and today he might have been a 5 or 6/10, I personally don't think that's a thing to praise. Nevertheless, whether you praise or criticise him, one thing that is completely detrimental and wrong, is celebrating his departure after he has quite obviously put in effort in front of 24,000 "supporters" for the shirt of the club we all support. He might not be good enough, which is a belief I personally hold onto at the moment. But responding like that? How can that support him to do better next time he puts on the shirt? Or next time there's a key pressured moment in the game, that he has the confidence to do what it takes without having us supporters in the back of his mind? Confidence is huge in football and it's our job as supporters to help provide that as much as we can. Today, we completely shot down the confidence of our very own player who may very well be in the managers plans whether we like it or not. Think some need to take a look at themselves.7 likes

Johnston the best player on the pitch by a mile. He misplaced a pass after about 75 minutes and I swear it was the first time all day, and he won every challenge, tackle, header, block he went in for.7 likes

Also, only 6 games across all 3 leagues were won by more than one goal today. Plenty of fans across the country will be saying that they wish they’d killed the game off earlier, we’re hardly the only ones. There will be loads of eyes on our result today from Cardiff, Bradford, Stockport etc. fans who’s reaction will be “for fuck sake, Bolton just always find a way to win at home”. I’ll take that6 likes

Whilst I get people's frustrations about not killing the game off, we do play right to the final whistle and have picked up many points doing so. These things cancel each other out essentially5 likes

That's his job, you fucking baby. Their keeper made some cracking saves too, as that's his job. "Fact is" we won. Your suggestion that we should have been miles ahead is not a "fact" in any shape or form. And regardless of what you think, you'll be watching Wanderers in the same League as I am next season. Keep crying every time we win, Sadsack. You'd have been beaming like a Cheshire Cat if Rotherham had nicked a winner. Unlucky.5 likes

Good God, yer a miserable cunt aren't you? Most football fans I know would enjoy a win regardless of how their team played, but especially if their team played well and deserved it.4 likes

As @Ani said, first 30 was turgid, last 15 they started gifting us openings, we should have been 4 up. Criminally wasteful again as 2nd half wore on, especially when they put Hugill and Nombe on, had 3 up top and big spaces opened up. Nearly bit us on the arse but great work from Sheehan, Dalby, ACD to make the opportunity then get the winner Randall's treatment when he went off was a disgrace. A pair of nob heads (who'd brought kids) in front of me were complicit, crucified him all game and cheered when he was hooked. Don't bother coming again, fuckwits. Sheehan's radar had been miles off but when he's high up the pitch he makes things happen ACD saved his one big contribution till the 94th minute Gale's at our level because he's got some tools but doesn't deliver with any consistency Erhahon was a bit sideways and backwards at too slow tempo first half, a lot better and more front foot second half, shame he had to go off Johnston was tremendous in defence, MoM for me, some proper blocking, tackling, heading. Maybe for another thread but Dalby's not getting a fair crack. If Burstow was being rested he'd reasonably expect a go in the middle and must have been a bit miffed to see Forss preferred. Dalby needs to be given a run of 5-6 games on trot, the wingers drilled into playing to him, then its down to him. If he doesn't score and is shit, fair enough, bench him again. 20 mins here and there and an odd start in the cup isn't a fair go, as with most strikers he got his 15 goals up North through playing every week, 30-odd starts. He did well today.4 likes

Many of our fans are staggeringly ignorant as to what makes a good player. Randell is a very very talented and clever player ahead of everyone in our midfield aside from Sheehan. He reminds me in some ways of when we had Beardsley and he was playing passes where runs should have been made but the players we had at the time weren’t clever enough to make them. Anyone that cheered when his number went up today need a good talking to. That’s only going to destroy any confidence he has The momentum of the game changed the moment he went off. Conway for all his raw ability still makes some poor decisions when he’s going to try and win the ball leaving him ahead of play and the opposition in behind. Hopefully he improves that but until he does nobody from a higher division is going to come in for him.4 likes

Result was the main thing but bloody hell do we make it hard work for ourselves. We spent a good half an hour in the second half passing between the centre halves and goalkeeper and then wonder why we end up under pressure. I called the penalty two minutes before it even happened, wish I’d put money on it. Just sleep walked in to it again from sitting so deep and being so slow at getting the ball forward and retaining possession further upfield. The reaction of so many to Randall’s substitution was ridiculous, I thought he was arguably our best player for the most part. Made some really intelligent runs and was the only one prepared to take a risk with a forward pass instead of forever taking the safe inside option. One day Gale and Duberry will realise that full backs are terrified by their pace and actually back themselves in a foot race instead of forever wanting the ball played in to their feet. Forss worked his nuts off but still struggle to see where he fits in to the system. Dalby was excellent when he came on and just showed the difference at being able to bring others in to play as long as they actually get within 20 yards of him. Duberry must have seen the video pre match, channelling his inner David Lee with the sort of goal we rarely seem to score. Very much felt like a get out of jail but get another win on Monday and it sets us up nicely for another quick turnaround.4 likes

Football eh? The difference in emotions from the 91st to 93rd minutes are ridiculous - nothing else can do that to you. Other than the first 20 where it just fell half-paced, I thought we played really well - other than finishing. We created enough good chances to win 5 games, just didn’t convert them (and should have had at least 1 penalty for handball. EE was very good, Sheehan immense, Randall once again very good at getting in good positions but even better at wasting it from there, Gale getting better and better, Dalby with a really good cameo (and started the move for the winner). Never mind beating them by more - we just needed to win, and we did, and if anything the team will get more of a buzz for how we did it in the end. Cardiff beat Exeter by 1, Bradford beat 9 man Wigan in the last minute (useless twats) - just win it at this time of the season. 3 more points on Monday please, preferably in an easier manner so my heart doesn’t get years taken off my life and me and @Whitesince63 can get on4 likes

None of it is as black and white as they're saying or you're saying. There seems to be an ever decreasing room on here for saying we lost but there were things individuals or the team did well, or we won but there were some things we didn't do so well. It won't be much of a forum if all that's in scope is 'we lost, move on' or 'we won, onto the next'. We won, 3 of the 12 Xmas / New Year points bagged, but it was harder work that it ought to have been. Not an unreasonable thing to say, surely.3 likes

Last home game he bought Tutu and Dalby on , Tutu created first goal Dalby scored it. He bought Dempsey on and Gale on. Dempsey created first goal and Gale scored it. So your point is total bollocks.3 likes

Currently 4 points between Barnsley in 9th and Rotherham in 21st. Tells you that aside from the top 6 it’s a pretty even league. Whilst we should be hoping / expecting to beat anyone that turns up at our place, there’s an expectation that’s beginning to breed in to entitlement that we should be turning everyone over 3s and 4s aside from maybe Vale the table tells you the majority of the teams below us are pretty evenly matched and we won’t be given anything and everyone will still be thinking a decent run gets them right in the picture. from now til march time it’s just heads down and grinding it out then worry about the games against the runners and riders from then till the end of the season. But you can’t worry about the picture unless you’re in it3 likes

There perhaps needs to be a separate thread for the rest of the season entitled 'A win, 3 points, but...' to cut down some of the falling out on here3 likes

Our keeper makes saves to keep us in it. OK. Their keeper makes plenty, but no mention of it- it's our fault for missing chances. Hardly using the same criteria to make a judgement there.3 likes

Still managing to win against stubborn teams. Is it papering over the cracks or are we developing a way to win ugly? Away from home is clearly an issue, but there can be no complaints at home. What I do find a touch strange at times is the use of subs. OK, they're necessary for injuries, to change tactics etc, but they do seem a touch formulaic at times. Almost as if, because we have 5, we have to use loads of them, even if they might not all be needed at that particular moment. I don't think it's a unique thing though; managers all over seem to like to make a good number of changes.3 likes

Just to put it out there, I'm trying to be objective, and Randall isn't pulling up any trees but does take up some good positions and links play, he definitely isn't the worst in our team in that first half, but think the jury has definitely made it's decision going off those around me.3 likes

This is pretty much spot on for Randall. He's putting the effort in and doesn't deserve the mockery cheering off, but he shouldn't be getting picked as he's not at the level needed. It's like seeing a teenager play against men, he's just so physically weak. Best thing for all parties would be to find him another club in Jan at the right level.2 likes

I’m going to do something which is a rare commodity on Wanderers Ways. I posted some shit. I was wrong, badly wrong. All my recommendations of first 11 predictions are purely those of a fan chatting pub shit. Take a bow Mr Sheehan 👏👏👏👏 A massive 3 points. Thanks Josh2 likes

Just back awful 30 mins, very good 15 mins, drab second half. Result was right but we make it hard. Disagreed with the starting 11🧑🎄 Keeper solid Christie was awful , if JDC had that game would have been slated - needs a rest. Centre halves - fine but FFS pass the ball in front of each other when fannying about. Conway - Better than recently god enregy EE broke up play very well. We were worse when he went off JS not always a fan but today stood up when needed , won the ball back for the winner ACD poor with the odd good flash , I think he is better with JDC energy overlapping TG good and threatening great outlet. Forss ran about but nothing special Subs - all ok, thought Dalby did well. Then there is Mr Randel - I thought a decent game, very good touches, got stuck in won the ball a few times !! However the miss could have been costly, think if he scored it could have lifted his whole season.2 likes

I saw it aa dempsey coming on tbh. Randall did OK with pretty much feck all service into the middle. At one point he was dancing round the 18 year box oozing class but unfortunately, a no10 needs to be putting those away. Ss must be seeing something in him though.2 likes

What a game ! a Proper Boxing day War of the Roses ! 1st 20 mins for them then constant pressure from us and well worth a half time lead . Obviously they were gonna come out fast , Their keeper was great , Our keeper made 2 great saves . Ref let everything go and what a finish ! Whilst I still think we are a bit soft , that was a hell of a match and I really enjoyed it and celebrated the final whistle like a loon !2 likes

🤯 how people see a game never ceases to amaze me. For me - most intelligent player on the pitch, reads a game like no other (meaning he intercepts a stupid amount of passes) and therefore pops up in the right position when we needed someone. The pass was silly, agreed, but doesn’t help that Christie was asleep by that point and didn’t read it at all (we need a right back in Jan). Not saying your opinion is wrong by the way, just find it mad that two people can see such a different thing.2 likes

In microcosm. This game is why Josh Sheehan frustrates the hell out of me. Taking everything else out of the equation - he was solid today (a good 6.5). First goal seemed a bit fortuitous to me - I think he was trying to knock it into a dangerous area rather than sidefoot it into the net. But I'll take it. Then the penalty. His decision making is absolutely woeful at times. That 2 year pass out to Christie in a crowded penalty box was stupidity beyond belief. Then the third goal - I think he knew he'd fucked up badly - which is why he was harrying the goalkeeper at the start of the phase that ended up with the goal which he took well. He arguably our most technically gifted player - but his footballing IQ is abysmal at times. If he had a brain he'd be a championship player at least. And if you are one of the utter shitehawks who cheered when Randell got subbed off then I hope you catch Ebola. Anyway - merry Christmas 😁2 likes
