I might be taking a more than charitable view here but the changing nature of the game has, for me, created more circumstances for keepers to come across as less than rock solid, even the top ones. Playing out from the back, especially when expected of lower league performers, has been the most obvious increasing risk area. Even the likes of Martinez, Allison etc have come a cropper now and then. The other is the ridiculous crowding of keepers at set pieces. Yes, its always been reasonable for a keeper to be expected to have a bit of physicality and clear folk out to catch crosses or punch them away but the last season or two has seen the pinning of them get out of hand.

All goalkeepers make mistakes and it usually ends in a goal , strikers miss sitters other players make stupid passes but goalies get the flack. Bonham for me as done well considering he’s made a few mistakes but he’s also made some cracking saves. The negativity on here about the new players is ridiculous give them a chance ffs ! I admit I can be negative but I am prepared to give them a chance!

Broome and Hutch played at National league level last year. Harrington couldn't get a start in a mid table L2 Fleetwood team. At Best these 3 are getting a L1/L2 loans this season. Why did we sign them - no real idea. Harrington probably a panic buy in January. At 26 he's not really one for the future. We effectively have one keeper - Bonham - for this level and he has his detractors. No issue with signing another and happy its on loan. Save our capital budget for a striker.

Not forgetting Blackpool. Bloke gives me the Willies.
  5. The public school educated, city trader who banks at Coutts hounded out by the establishment. Aye Martyr or not. At least we’ll be shut of the cunt.

Bonham is a great shot stopper! But there is much more to being a goalie then that and his overall game is lacking in key areas, such as dominating his area, dealing with crosses and dodgy distribution (at times)..

It's absolutely bananas that this even needs typing out as if we're gonna start the season with 4 goalkeepers sat on bench.
  9. Stride in Fuck everything up Realise you've bitten off more than you can chew Throw your toys out of the pram Blame everybody else
  10. Bolty has completely lost the plot, deflect and blame everyone else except for the bloke who took not one but two bungs that we know of. Beautiful.

Simkin and Johansson sounds like an American cop drama. Fuck yeah.

He might have been Stokes third choice keeper but he became our number one keeper. Will he still be number keeper, well if the gossip is true, he won't, some new lad is coming in on loan apparently. Why are we bringing in this keeper on loan while we have four other keepers - well obviously because in the clubs opinion we need a better one. I don't really understand why people seem to be getting all het up about all this - four existing keepers or 40 of them, the bottom line is we need a better one, why on loan, obviously because it is the best the club can achieve in the circumstances we find ourselves in (need a load of players / apparently not a lot of money to achieve that with). Christ people moan about how long my posts are but if you add together all the posts people have written on the goalkeeper situation then it will be far lengthier than any post I've ever written.

Maybe his calamitous time at Stoke was all part of the master plan. Everything happens for a reason ha

Charlie Baker just referred to a joke that he inferred was too rude for the wireless, I think I found it - 😁

I really can’t understand the stance of some against Bonham. His start was shaky but then he hadn’t played much at Stoke and his aerial control didn’t look the best but as the season went on he grew in stature for me and his performances in the play offs were terrific and we’d still be in L1 if it wasn’t for some of his saves. He’d definitely start the season for me and I’d be looking to spend whatever little money we do have on other areas.

@gonzo can get you 100mg of Rrogozhine for £50
  18. Let’s accept that is true. Why would anyone who lives in the ‘arse end of the country’ vote for any of the main parties who for years have jointly forgotten about these places ? I know Reform won’t improve things but why would people not give them a go when all the others have failed them ?
  19. Stewart Lee, they arrested him and threw him in jail just for saying he's English! These days...
  20. I would imagine that his stats have shown improvements. I also read that statement as "we're looking elsewhere, but can't sell the chap at the moment". As above, a means of pushing the price up maybe. I reckon we'd be interested if the price was right, and I reckon he wouldn't mind coming.
  21. Surely he can't be as good as Bonham?
  22. He's just saying that rubbish to justify getting a few extra £ out of interested teams.
  23. it’ll be interesting to see where Pierce Charles ends up on loan after signing for City. He was outstanding for Wednesday last year in a disastrous season for them. Wherever he goes he’ll be one of the best keepers in the division in my opinion….
  24. Ok, can you ask lusty for his password please? 😁

  26. I think it was just the case we needed two goalkeepers at very short notice and with not a lot of money to spare, and they were both the best available in the circumstances I wouldn't have a problem with Bonham being back-up but I'm not surprised we're looking to sign another goalkeeper
  27. I think it's high time we modernise some of our institutional norms surrounding parliament. The US is seeing what can happen when someone who is not acting in the interests of the US constitution gets into power and starts being a cunt. We don't want the same thing happening over here and some pound shop Temu Trump d coding to ride roughshod over political norms no matter what colour rosette.
  28. Weird old custom that is. Bizarre process in and of itself, but also a bit odd that it is the responsibility of the chancellor to grant it. I would imagine that to be a ceremonial role of the speaker or member of his office, or possibly the attorney general. Some quirky old systems we have.
  29. Look what I found on my walk today a Thing of Beauty White Dog Shit
  30. Loans don't normally come for free these days, and we have to typically cover most of the salary too. I'm not worried about another Goalkeeper, I’m frustrated because there are plenty of decent Championship Goalkeepers out there for free, i mentioned 2/3 quality ones earlier, who we could turn into assets. The fact we now have 4 on contract the club don’t deem good enough is an indulgence. You can't moan about a budget when you've got 4 none playing Goalkeepers.
  31. If we bring in another keeper then 1 or 2 of the others will be out on loan or sold. Unless this new lad can cover right back.
  32. I thought you were talking about me at first 😀
  33. he cancelled that out at Bradford in the play offs that kept us at 0-0 for the duration till we scored neither here nor there, if we bring in someone better with more experience, fine if he plays, we have strengthened those in front of him which will help he has a chance to work on his game playing every week
  34. Although we managed to sign one last year that was all of the above except he also didn't save any 😁

  36. We have an option to buy on him so if he’s a success it’s worth us having a good luck at him.

  38. It wouldn't be a disaster. One thing that interview showed after the Makerfield by election, he may play the clown but he's far from stupid.
  39. Don't disagree but what has Farage done for Clacton?
  40. If a big chunk of your first team is made up of loans, you do 4 things: limit places in the squad for your own talent, limit your own potential assets, don't sign players who would have become assets and at the same time you're playing for the privilege. Loans work at League 1 because of the business model, It's different in the Championship. Take Dom Ballard at Leyton Orient, they're never going to get more than £2-£3 million and while that might be ok for Leyton Orient, we're so expensive to run as a club, it'll never generate enough to make a difference. We can't afford to do an Oxford. We need to make liabilities into assets, by using the space we have in our squad for the talent we own.
  41. fwiw Leicester bought Mahrez from Ligue 2 when in the championship so I guess you never know
  42. He’s 21 still learning so give the kid a chance. ACD didn’t exactly have a stellar record before he came and look how that turned out. He’s on loan so if he can’t step up he goes back just like others have but let’s hope he does and surprises us.
  43. My whataboutery 😆😆 you’re bringing Trump into the topic of Farage running in the clacton By election

Similar to the Stockport disallowed goal against us. Swings and roundabouts. Shame in a way though, that such a great goal doesn't count.
  45. Dongs out for the Wanderers.
  46. I know we're riding on a high and he's a great character and finished the year in fine form, but i just don't believe that's true. Madine was soft and had a stinking attitude, but in terms of footballing ability I think he was significantly clear of what Dalby is. They're just different players entirely in my eyes. I know people have likened Dalby to Kevin Davies, I think for me the player he's most resembled for us in the past would be Jutkiewicz, strong as an ox, brings others in to the game around him, occupies multiple defenders and will score you goals through bravery and presence. But I saw Madine score free kicks, run past players and score from 20+ yards, I don't think you're ever getting that from Dalby.

I never watch these podcasts but I really liked Deano, so gave this a watch - the only other one was Nicky Hunt enjoyed them both he comes across as a decent bloke (in the context of a footballer) ((as opposed to a husband)) he was sneered at for his part in the anderson take over but by the sounds of it he was badly let down too never knew he got Newport promoted either, or that he his actual sending off offence on Savage was for a kick in the neck like hearing the 80s/90s stories about footballers loving a ruck and how Keown was a nasty cunt as well as 1st goal in open play at the Reebok he also scored the first hat trick yep, love Deano me
