Generally, I think the signings have improved us, with the obvious caveat that too often they're not available. Big Vic looked like he had started to flower after his first goal, but he's not really been around since, which is a shame.

Johnnyrotten
2 hours ago, Take Hunt Off said: Being a bit of a statto I have been looking at our form since Xmas compared to last season when we dramatically improved after our January signings. Surprisingly we are only two points light on last season with same no. of games played our goal difference is identical ie W9 D1 L3 F28 A12 (last season)W8 D2 L3 F24 A8 this season .When you consider our recovering injuries , good points haul from first half of season I think we are in a decent place for a fifth or sixth spot. We might need to replicate our form over the last six games of last season but I reckon 81 pts will do it. Not forgetting we have Ipswich & Sheff Wed up next ! Its surprising that despite poor runs in both seasons (post Xmas), 2 points per game has more or less been maintained throughout. Jan last year 9 pts from 5 games; Feb 16 from 8; March 7 from 4; April 15 from 7, total 47 from 24. This year Jan 13 from 6, Feb 12 from 6; its March that's going to be toughest to get near to 6 points from 3 games. The challenge will be making up any shortfall in April with "easier" fixtures. Also surprising that last year we only won 2 out of 8 from losing at MK Dons to drawing with Sheff Wed in April, it wasn't all plain sailing. Wanderlust
In some respects it's a shame that we are playing Ipswich and Sheff Wednesday next up because our performances have bombed recently, some old problems that we thought we'd overcome have reappeared and we're not in a good place compared with a month ago. If we don't get something from those games and the chasing teams win their GIH the pressure will ramp up again so for me it's all about regaining form and quickly. If we're talking statistics, a playoff place is just about in our own hands as of today - and that's only by virtue of us having a better GD than Wycombe. There's little point in counting chickens or reading the tea leaves - we just have to hope that the lads can up their game and do the business because recent performances have put our playoff prospects in the balance. It's all about us - everything else will take care of itself.

green genie
As we seem to want to take this to the wire, when you had your big day out at Port Vale was there any talk of handing over more of the home end?

No, not sure how they could either. It will be rather welcoming, they did not like us going on the pitch. Next season all pubs round the ground were closed Edited March 12, 2023 by Ani

Absolutely not. To the extent that we got a reduced allocation this time around.

green genie
It is scary the point total looks like will be required for second place. 10 cup finals to go with the distraction one.
