I don't think there is anything dodgy about the ref, except that he can only give what he can see.

If he can't see it definitely go over the line, he can't give it.

If he can see it go over, then he can see the handball.

This handball goal is, however, anti-VAR. In the Prem it would be reviewed & disallowed.

 But, y'know, it's reasonable human error & in truth (helped by winning) I can live with it.

Nervier than it needed to be given the first half chances, but resolute at the back again. Wasn’t too fussed a few weeks ago about missing Tuesday, but I’m gutted I’m not there now!

Didn’t see a thing of today’s game so can’t comment other than to say it feels like a bigger win than just 3 points against Burton due to our record there, backing up the Brum win and the other results around us.

Great win, unbelievable form, go again Tuesday night and see how things look after that.

Had to grind that second half out today but felt like a big win. Players looked leggy last 20 (and why wouldn’t they after Tuesday night). 

Have a feeling Bristol on Tuesday might be a game too far but really hope I’m wrong. 

Toal was outstanding today. 

Theres no way, surely, we can get top 2. But then its possible we’re within 6 next Saturday evening. Feel like we need a defeat so I can claim back the rational bit of my brain!

Just back & still highly chuffed....I didn't think i'd ever see us win at bastard Burton.

!st half , we were great, played some lovely football, outclassed them & should have been more than one up at h/t

2nd half was traditional Burton away aerial bombardment, they score one that did cross the line but had more than a bit of handball about it but we didn't cave in, defended resolutely, looked dangerous on the break & got the win we deserved.

Everyone contributed, Forrester very good again but Toal MOTM, practically unbeatable on the ground or in the air

I was in the stands and it was a good half a foot over the line - fairly straightforward to see. But so was the handball! He basically just fell onto it and pushed it into the net

The ball was over the line, we were stood behind it and could see, however the lad used his arm to move ball forward so was handball, he was also lay on the ball which is obstruction (I think).

Once the ref has given the goal unless Lino has definite view that it was not a goal no way was it getting over turned.

I get that impression too from an eye on the technical area in games, they look to be a strong coaching team who are clear in their roles, the approach in games and the messages they're getting across. Players evidently understand it and like it.

There was a lengthy discussion between ref & lino after their goal before he (wrongly) allowed it to stand.

Sweeney's celebration - he kept stopping to look round, at the ref, at the linesman, at the ref again, he couldn't believe it had been given.  

I know its not relevant in the grand scheme of things, but as a point of principle he should get a retrospective yellow card for deliberate handball (cheating) and the goal scrubbed from his career stats, like they do with the Prem dubious goals panel.  He didn't score a goal, yet its on his CV forever.

A couple of minutes after the goal I remember thinking that I know it had cost us, but I'd rather that than have to sit through a VAR review.  It was more like "we've conceded, let's just get on with the game".  That is better than a 5 minute delay after which they may still get it wrong anyway, which they frequently do.  I hate VAR a lot more than I hate getting the odd bad decision against us.
