Not yet but we’re banking on Wycombe and Wrexham finding form like Huddersfield. I suppose if we apply pressure to them it could have a effect but it would be a epic promotion if it happened Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 8, 2025 Posted March 8, 2025 22 points from 9 games. 5 points dropped. We've 11 to go, and there is room for improvement! 😁 Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 8, 2025 Posted March 8, 2025 Reading to play both Wrexham and Wycombe at home. Orient have to play Wycombe at home and then Huddersfield away last 2 games of the season. Huddersfield have to play Wycombe at home, Charlton away, Stockport away, and Orient last up. Wrexham home to Stockport soon, as above Stockport have to host Huddersfield, and then Stockport finish away at Wycombe. Wrexham have to play Charlton for their penultimate game. Loads of permutations and totally unpredictable, but of all of the teams up there, I'd prefer our games of Stockport and Wycombe at home, and none away. Loads of twists yet. Quote
MancWanderer Posted March 8, 2025 Posted March 8, 2025 Since SS took over it’s been one game at a time. And apart from the odd round of games it’s been us that have benefited massively We’ve gone from hoping to maybe scrape 6th place in the playoffs to an outside chance of automatic Just keep going one game at a time. Somebody will blow up. Grind it out. The hope kills. I’m out of cliches now Quote
noxid Posted March 8, 2025 Posted March 8, 2025 (edited) We're moving on up said Primal Scream. Shit song but we are. 4th by Tuesday night! Edited March 8, 2025 by noxid Quote
London Wanderer Posted March 8, 2025 Posted March 8, 2025 I think catching Wrexham will be tougher than catching Wycombe. Can’t get complacent about the top 6 either. Exciting two months ahead Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Cream doesn't rise to the top if subjected to homogenisation. Evatt ball became robotic, possession based and same each time- just like blasted supermarket milk. SS has gone direct to the farm, and were seeing a more natural, appetising game, without the continuous bland desert of possession. Quote
Ani Posted March 9, 2025 Author Posted March 9, 2025 8 behind Wycombe with with 11 to play. We have to beat them which makes 5 with 10 to play, call it 6 with goal difference. We have made up 7 in last 6 If we lose to them no chance, they have a tough run in, Wrexham and Charlton also to catch. Game on ! Quote
Wanderlust Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Whilst we have shown that we can compete with the best with a largely fit squad we have a horrendous punishing schedule of two games a week coming up in which there are likely to be injuries and exhaustion and other potential problems so I don’t think we should get too far ahead of ourselves. We’re undoubtedly currently in a better position than we were but we’re nowhere near being able to take it easy at any point and still meet our objectives like Birmingham can. How will we perform with Etete up top or other enforced changes we just don’t know. We do know that the teams currently behind us will fight tooth and claw to knock us off our perch as will those in a relegation battle. Nothing can be taken for granted at this stage so I’m still firmly in the one game at a time camp. Quote

thebells Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Wycombe’s recent form has been poor (relatively) and they’ve played most of their last 7 against bottom 8 teams. Run in is very tough. Wrexham have only 4 of last 11 at home. But I think also have the best away record. Not inconceivable gap is 6 or less come Saturday night, but still a huge ask for 2 teams to capitulate AND for us to keep up this form. And it’s the hope that kills, always! Quote
Lostock Whites Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Imagine if we got rid of Evatt earlier on in the season eh? Or even just after Christmas. Quote

Win at Bristol and beat Stockport. They don’t play mid-week. Then it would stay that way if they lose to Wrexham. Like you I don’t think it will play out that way, but it’s possible. Quote
Arrested development Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Think we have Just got to take it one game at a time. We know the Blackpool/Wigan away period is usually a shit storm every year so let's see how we get on in the next two first. Quote

If we can somehow get through these next 2 games without dropping anything, players then have 2 weeks to rest up and hopefully recover from any niggles. Quote
