It’s a basic burger. Nowt special. Went to Hickory’s smoke house the other week, was sweating meat coming out.

got a couple near us

the smoked beef rib is superb

had the full on platter a couple of times as well - £65 for 2, or £36 for 1

maybe, but a burger, if made properly with great ingredients is a splendid thing

Bar and restaurant staff don't get paid enough.

Especially when they work unsociable hours in the main.

Being a proper bar person or floor runner is a skill in itself.

Britain can't do service!

Just can't, people have come to put up with shite service as its to be expected and its now the norm.

To be fair they shut at 10 if you're still in there by 5 past you're a prick.

From his profile it sounds like he knew he was being an awkward cunt going in to order just before it shuts

Don't really agree with that. Can't say I've often had issues with service in restaurants. Lot of hard working folk, not getting paid huge amounts and doing a really good job. Went for a meal on Saturday at a local Shepard Neame (Duke of Cumberland in Whitstable if folk are in the area and like seafood) great service, good food. The waiting staff who served us was from Maccesfield though so maybe we got a bit of Northerners living down South extra special service!

Service is very mixed.

Restaurants etc- face to face- seem on the whole to be better.

Calling a large company can be an absolute nightmare.

Did have to ring my bank today, as I hadn't been able to log on to my account.

They were tremendous and helpful. Scouser too!.

Guess you can never know until you ring.

I've only had it once and I was massively underwhelmed. Maybe I just caught them in a bad day.

£17.95 with fries and a drink 👀

Tbf you pay that in a Brewers Fayre or whatever these days. Even Spoons are heading north of a tenner with a burger & pint

I went before a night match a few weeks ago. Yes, very expensive. But it was massive and very good. The 2nd best burger I've ever had. It was also the most expensive one I have had. Also got their version of chips. And there were loads of them.  Would I go again? Yes. Doubt I would make it a regular thing though.

FYI the best burger I ever had was at Smithills Open Farm.

Been a few times with the kids, and it's fine. Decent fast food. A "small" portion of their fries is enough for a family of four. And one or their 'standard' burgers contains two patties for some reason. That's my only gripe with the place really - going in for the first time and ordering what you think is a normal meal, and getting far too much.

Has anyone been to the Miller & Carter chain? It looks a bit Toby Carvery/Nandos but they do steaks and its very expensive.
