It was the manner of the defeat for me, spunked countless chances like we were playing a friendly without a care in the world and then absolutely comical defending for their equalizer, winner and also the second penalty.

Toal, Conway, Tutu, Gale, Bonham and Ref all shit. Never seen a keeper as piss weak as Bonham. His distribution is good but little else.

We'll do Bradford I think but the final is anyone's guess and it depends on which team shows up on the day.

Cameraman didn't see it. Commentator didn’t see it. Skybet didn’t see it.

Nobody near me saw or heard anything. And it was quite important in terms of letting the crowd know. It's for the fans after all. That referee was on another level for being shit. I've had better refs in Sunday leagues.

Summed the repeated deficiencies of the season up perfectly. Poor in both boxes yet again.

I don't know what position Conway will move to, but for all the reasons repeatedly highlighted, he is not a defender.

Somewhere in league 2, I suspect.

We had to play someone in the playoffs and it's Bradford not sure about any advantage in being at home second leg if we can win 3-1 at home that means Bradford will have to go for it at home and we are always capable of scoring, our problem is we are also very capable of letting goals in, a two goal lead though should do us.COYWM!!

We haven't won 3-1 at home against anyone all season. Off the top of my head I can only think of 4 games we've won by more than 1 goal at home.

So I reckon if we win this play off it will be by a draw and 1 goal win across the 2 games. Can't see a smashing them at home and then hanging on away scenario

Feels like a right kick in the bollocks that result in terms of how we have dropped to fifth, but there was a lot of positives to take from the game. This time next week we need  a full house behind the team and have a real go at bradford

Either that or only about 5k turn up, play a fairly timid, defensive game, hit them on the break, defend properly at corners, and shoot like professional footballers not NW Counties standard.

The crowd makes no difference to the stuff that goes on in both boxes.

I do agree there were plenty positives too - Cissoko, Sheehan, Forino, ACD back to being a pest.

And it was an enjoyable game today, entertaining stuff, just let down by the defending and shooting.

It's not a 'however you phrase it' situation. It's a league table of 46 games and a season played across 9 months.

I doubt we've been within five points of Cardiff since the first month of the season. Not with both teams on the same number of games anyway. We never looked remotely like being an automatic promotion team and in the end we've finished closer to 15th than 2nd. We've won the 9th most games in the league and it's only a series of extraordinary comebacks that have kept us where we are.

None of that matters for the playoffs, which are between four equally uninspiring teams. So of course we can still go up, but we can be realistic about what we are. A team that deservedly finished 5th in a poor third tier.

Wanted to add to this that if we do go up in the playoffs everything that happened before is null and void and the season has been a resounding success.

The issue isn’t Rodrigues, it’s the 2 in the middle.

We had the exact same problem last season with Sheehan/matete as a two. When Rodrigues goes forward and we lose the ball, it’s a piece of piss for the opposition to get in dangerous positions because neither can tackle for shit and you’re left with Sheehan protecting the back four on his own. Add in to that tutu and Conway bombing forward and there’s your problem.

I noticed today that everytime we were breaking away, a Luton player either fouled one of ours or put a strong enough challenge in too knock them off balance causing us to give it away again. We’re too lightweight simple as that with only 2 in there.

As much as I like Rodriguez, he should be playing 10 with another proper midfielder alongside Sheehan. Either EE or Simons needs to come in for the play offs on these tough games against Bradford.

And then the decision is whether to play RR or one of the attacking players. We're too open at the moment

5th place was the absolute worst for game timings - 8pm Saturday at the Reebok so no chance of taking the kids. What a balls up today

If we'd been at home 2nd leg it would have been 8pm KO on a school night, surely 8pm on a Saturday is a whole lot better.  Try keeping my 7 year old grandson away from a play off game.

I quite like the idea that we still get to play under lights in our home leg, and I can still do stuff the rest of the day instead of spending the whole morning just in a state of pre-match build up 😀

Gutted about the result but we've not been short of entertainment this season.

Looked fantastic going forward despite some poor final choices, but my word we have some crap defenders. Cant see a solution as Christie and GJ are somehow even worse.

Conceded 3, missed pen and they hit woodwork 3 times, 2 of which really should have been scored.

I don't think it can be blamed on us having too many attacking players, Kenny and ACD work their tits off, RR and Sheehan for me work harder and win the ball better than our other 3 CMs that are supposed to be used mainly for that purpose.

Conway's mistake for the first when it was in the air forever was beyond embarrassing, it's the kind of thing you in kids football when they aren't yet used to judging the flight of a ball.

The only thing I really worry about, is our inability to adapt to tactical issues. Prime examples we could not handle their corners all match, they didn't change the tactic, and we didn't seem to change how we handled them. There have been a couple of matches this season like this. Apart from that, the playoffs are a lottery, i just hope we have bought the right ticket this time

What is going on with coaching/player reactions on this stuff? Not just limited to us, but it seems to be "we've been told to set up to defend corners in this way - we can't possibly change because they keep overloading a certain area"

Like watching kids football sometimes with how we get caught by the same thing time and time again

McGinlay has suggested the club asked the time added on not be displayed to prevent a pitch invasion. Feckin ludicrous if true.

What the feck was all that delay in the lap of honour about, just because Luton were still on the pitch? Walk the other way round ffs!

We were saying on way back that today just about summed up our season. Long cross field ball catches out full back, penalty. We quickly get back into game score 2 goals that make the game look easy. Playing in second gear creating chances on a regular basis then concede two sloppy goals .

The only thing missing was the dramatic even later equaliser.

The warning was there 5 mins earlier, when he wandered towards the ball, Jones waited on the touchline, ball over Conway, his cross ended with them hitting the post. Exactly the same scenario played out again, except Conway legged the lad up.

Johnston is as guilty of it by the way, in the last home game he kept wandering out of his area towards the action, allowing the easy diagonal over and beyond him.

Neither of them have any real sense of the LB position, nor enough pace when being turned and ran at so surely they can be worked with so their starting positions cut down some of the risk

Absolute schoolboy stuff, in fact a slight on decent, well-coached schoolboys.

Fair point actually. This might actually work better for the kids being granted a pass!

We surpassed ourselves today.  We had 10 back every corner, and not only left players unmarked on the edge of the box, but players unmarked on the back post too.  We mark the middle of the 6 yard box, and if it doesn't go there, its just unfortunate if we concede but it wasn't my fault, nobody has scored from near the penalty spot so someone else is to blame. I'll still be picked next week and get a contract next season.

They don't seem to have a desire to keep a clean sheet, as long as they aren't the one to blame.

Didn’t think about the ‘under the lights’ aspect. I like it. I’m in work both days but was sorted for the time off if we ended up away that day. Still plenty of time for a few beers after work, Nam Ploy already booked.

We commented it was surprising how much of a ‘sit down’ support they were
