Idiot Wind Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 was that in the book he wrote under richard bachman the same one with shawshank redemption in? I don't think it was (unless there's another version). I think the book you're referring to is called Different Seasons and has 4 novellas in it, including Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, one about a kid who befriends an old Nazi and one other I can't remember. Fantastic reading. Quote
Zico Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 was that in the book he wrote under richard bachman the same one with shawshank redemption in? he wrote Running Man as Bachman Shawshank was in a collection of short stories but under the name Stephen King oh and speaking of Predator "if it bleeds we can kill it" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlicWUDf5MM Quote
Boothy Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Aye, The Shawshank Redemption is an adaptation of novella 'Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption', it was published in the 80's but I have it in a collection called 'Stephen King Goes To The Movies' which also has 1408, Children of the Corn, The Mangler and Low Men In Yellow Coats (Hearts in Atlantis) and Children of the Corn. Never read the story to which 'The Running Man' is adapted, but sure it will be decent. To be fair, Total Recall is only loosely based on the novella by P.Dick, so I can see why there is scope to make a new adaption. The ambiguity in the film was a tool used by the director rather than based on the book. Another book I am looking forward to be adapted is 'Odd Thomas' by Dean Koontz, which is apparantly in the pipeworks. Arnie is indeed king of action! Quote
DazBob Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Children of the Corn. Now that IS a creepy film. Quote

jeep Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 was that in the book he wrote under richard bachman the same one with shawshank redemption in? I've got the 1st 4 Bachman books combined as 1 book. They are Rage - a school kid loses the plot and holds his class as hostages. 8/10 The Long Walk - 100 lads compete in a walk, where if they drop below 4 miles per hour they are shot. The winner is meant to get any prize they desire. 8/10 Roadwork - boring 2/10 & The Running Man - diferent from the film as has already been described. 7/10 jeep - ex Stephen King fan (his books are too long winded now, plus I've got the attention span of a goldfish) Quote

SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I just watched "Super 8". Decent flick, worth a dabble. Had a good 80s Goonies feel to it. Quote
Big City Girl Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 watched it the other night after hearing how bad the 2nd one is wasn't that bad, not much happens the concept is grim, but you don't see anything gory I like my horror films but I don't like gore. Even though you say it's not gory, I think I'd still have nightmares about this. Ryan posted the trailer earlier, but I just can't get my head around thinking this could be a good film (Even though I do things like this in my dungeon to the homeless, but that's ok because I drug them first) Quote
