Escobarp Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Even got snow in Edinburgh today which doesn’t happen often. No winds and very tranquil though. 6 miles out of Edinburgh it’s 6 inches deep and causing chaos with roads shut. Amazing how we still cannot function in major cities in the uk when snow falls. Quote
Not in Crawley Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Because it happens so rarely that there’s little point in investing. Last time it happened in London was 5 years ago and couldn’t get to work from Crawley for two days, it’s not a huge loss and those in zones 1-4 were generally ok. Quote
Nobster Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Batten down the hatches this storm that hit us overnight is traveling north up France and will hit the UK later. Quote

Last time it happened in London was 5 years ago and couldn’t get to work from Crawley for two days, it’s not a huge loss and those in zones 1-4 were generally ok. Aye I agree with that. My dad was giving me his worldly advice last week on how I should have a hot water system in my van and have everything lagged to stop it freezing. We get one freeze up a year. Like you say city councils won't buy a fleet of snow ploughs when it snows and sticks about 3 times a years. Although I've said before on it never ceases to amaze me how people are just not aware of the conditions outside and how many just don't bother looking at the forecast at any point then wonder why their car battery is flat after being sat in the cold all weekend or why they've been blown over walking their dog on a promenade in 70mph winds. Traffic is chaos round the north west today, all down to accidents with folk expecting their journeys to be exactly the same even with sever weather warnings across the land. Folk don't have a clue. Traf Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 4 inches of snow here, but life goes on. Townfolk are softies. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Was a bit slippery briefly on the roads last night. Not bad at all. A bit blowy now and that's it. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Wait till Saturday. Potential for a fair bit apparently. Quote
bolty58 Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Murderers weather down here. Overcast and humid. Only 32C but uncomfortable as fuck. Snow? You lucky bastards. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I always call the first warm and humid days in May riot weather days. When folk first break out from winter mode and get leathered. Could do with a couple of 32° days to dry stuff up. Quote
Elvis Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 25 Deg, no clouds and a slight breeze today in Dubai Quote
MancWanderer Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Sweep's "cracking the flags in the shires" comments amused me no end Having spent most of the last two months down there I get where he is coming from I can be sat down there all week in lovely (but cold) sunshine whilst Mrs Manc is phoning me bleating about hail, snow, frost, ice and all. It's less than 200 miles away ffs. Having done my research, rather than the work that I was supposed to do, the Pennines have a lot to answer for in terms of Northern weather Quote
