I'm doing John o' Groats to Lands End in June and im really struggling to find rides locally that have enough climb in them.

Ideally i need rides between 85-105 miles that have around 6000 ft of climb in them. At the minute im just doing parbold hill the road up to haigh hall and then over Rivi and that is only giving me 2800ft of climb. Its also getting boring doing the same route 4 times a week.

It would be great if the rides could start and end in Bolton but not essential.

Thanks

Cycle Manchester to Holmfirth through Greenfield and go up the Isle of skye climb. You can come back via Holme moss climb 'think it's called?' That they do on tour of Britain, both climbs about as good as you'll get locally. Winnats pass is definitely worth trying in between Sheffield and Manchester near Bakewell

Straight up Smithills Dean Rd, when you get to the top go straight on up Coal Pit Lane, when you reach the top turn around and go back down and then repeat 5 times - you'll get fit, and you won't see many cars.

The highest point in Bolton is only around 1500 ft, so maybe some training in the Lake district would suit you better.

Question for cyclists

Why don't you just fuck off from the roads you arrogant cuntsticks??

Traffic lights etc apply to you too

And if you ride side by side expect a big fuck off beep

They rank alongside drivers of stuff like Porsche Boxsters or Audi TT's as having completely unfounded transport based superiority complexes

Happy pedalling

Trough of Bowland, decent climbs, beautiful scenery & light on traffic.

Agree although roads round here are in a shitty state of repair at the moment.

Another good one is Clitheroe/Settle/Ribblehead Viaduct/Hawes/ over B6160 to Kettlewell and back to Clitheroe via Malham Tarn and Hellifield. just over the 100 mile mark and a good day's workout.

I agree. Cyclists jumping lights and taking up the road are in my to be taken out and shot dossier for when I'm charge. To be fair there's not many who aren't in it though
