gonzo Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 In reality they didnt actually spend that much money. Bit of a myth all that. Quote
Carlos Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 When Shearer went there rather than United, I think there was plenty of money sloshing around. You can't compare them to Leicester. Quote
madthatter Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I thought they'd crumble after Christmas. They haven't. I've watched em on TV 6 or 7 times this season and they've been immense. Never seen a non 'big club' challenge like it. Liverpool t'other year . . . Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 In reality they didnt actually spend that much money. Bit of a myth all that. That team 20 odd years ago, cost more than the team Leicester put out yesterday. Where's the Myth? Quote
Zico Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 That team 20 odd years ago, cost more than the team Leicester put out yesterday. Where's the Myth? Leicester had an £8m lad on the bench! At the time rovers were spending less than the team they were competing with: http://www.theguardian.com/football/when-saturday-comes-blog/2013/oct/23/blackburn-premier-league-title-earned-1995 Quote

At the time rovers were spending less than the team they were competing with: http://www.theguardian.com/football/when-saturday-comes-blog/2013/oct/23/blackburn-premier-league-title-earned-1995 Suppose you have to count for inflation, and if we're talking about spending less that those you're competing with Leicester's team cost a tenth of what City's did yesterday. Zico Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Suppose you have to count for inflation, and if we're talking about spending less that those you're competing with Leicester's team cost a tenth of what City's did yesterday. Aye Not knocking Leicester or owt but they are hardly on a budget, they've got a 9m signing out in loan as well Granted it's a million miles for city and relatively speaking they ain't spending to challenge like Blackburn were And it will be a great achievement if they win it Mainly because this time last year they were something like 4 points adrift at the bottom Quote
Zico Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 They have done well but i predict 5th. 13 points ahead of utd and a good run of fixtures Can't see them finishing outside the top 4 Big weekend next weekend as well with top 4 playing each other Quote
Guest Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 13 points ahead of utd and a good run of fixtures Can't see them finishing outside the top 4 Big weekend next weekend as well with top 4 playing each other After next weekend they have a run of winnable games They really can win it Quote
snowball Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 After next weekend they have a run of winnable games They really can win it it's those 'winnable games' such as the last half a dozen or so, if they are still top that will decide it. One thing going to Citeh (brilliant performance no doubt) but when you suddenly have only a few games left and it's yours to throw away that's when the pressure will really kick in and it doesn't matter who you are playing in the Premier League. Relegation threatened teams won't roll over and the pressure on Leicester will be immense. Injuries as well might kick in. Hope they do it I really do, but have a sneaky feeling if someone unexpected wins it might just be Tottenham. Quote
Zico Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Just reading vardy's new deal is 80k a week! Quote
ZiggyStardust Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 The question has changed from 'Can they win it?' to 'Will they win it?' Quote
Eddie Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Just reading vardy's new deal is 80k a week! Fair play to the lad for me. He'll only have been on 'good' money for the past 4 years or so. He's 29 so has 1 big contract left and one of the bigger clubs in the league would offer it him in summer. IMO he's said to Leicester that he genuinely wants to stay there for the rest of his better years but he wants to be paid the going rate. I also really want them to win it, but if they don't I hope it's Spurs that come through and win it instead. Quote
no balls Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I presumed Zico was saying how cheap his hourly rate was for a new deal. I'd say fair play to the lad for that. Quote
frank_spencer Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 80k a week seems astronomical to us but its less than half of what rooney is on. Quote
birch-chorley Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 80k a week is what £4m a year? Even if Leicester finish bottom of the prem next season the club will get a minimum £100m from TV revenue That's before any champions league money, gate receipts sponsorship Leicester could pay the 25 men in the squad £80k a week each and still have plenty of cash left to go at That's going to be an average premier league salary with this new TV deal. It's only right as well, if the players didn't get it then the foreign owner would trouser it and take it back to Thailand with him Quote
freds dad Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Wasn't Lennon linked with the Leicester job at the start of the season and didn't people mock when they appointed Ranieri? Quote
gonzo Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Wasn't Lennon linked with the Leicester job at the start of the season and didn't people mock when they appointed Ranieri? Just shows what can happen when people that know what they're doing make decisions at a football club. Quote
Guest Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Just shows what can happen when people that know what they're doing make decisions at a football club. Probably just a punt Quote

Was more about their turnaround how far they have come in 12 months Spose it's easy to pay that when you know you'll be in the PL next year but it's not just him that got them where they are, be interesting to see how well the rest of the team do out of this one off season for them Again not knocking them at all, it's just all a bit bonkers Quote
jules_darby Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Valencia beaten again today. By the mighty Betis ROFL at Gary Chuckle once more Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Afobe was utter crap for Bournemouth. Like watching Heskey. Quote
