Sweep Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 His father is the last player I can recall playing professionally as a grandfather. JSL I wonder if Kevin Poole was a grandfather when he played for Burton the other year, he was about 50 years old I think, so it is perfectly feasible that he was. Quote

Walkden26 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 not impossible jussi will be the next and if Bogdan fecks off in January or end of the season that would be a good signing. Quote
Sweep Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 not impossible jussi will be the next Wasn't he finished and "past it" already when he left us a couple of years ago? Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I am sure after watching Eidur last night he is far from washed up he is no telly tubby and retains his ability to pull the strings whether Lennon thinks he can use the money/wages more wisely on someone else is his call but I would be surprised if Lennon does not sign him. Casino Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Wasn't he finished and "past it" already when he left us a couple of years ago? sorry, i didnt mean to sign him i meant professional grandad Quote
tomski Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Money won't be an issue, that's not the reason he wants to play again.Well said. Good on Eidur for having the desire to continue and achieve summat at a club he has fond memories of. NL wont have him to due to sentiment and rightly so. But if you can have a bit of both, why not? Quote
Traf Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 A bit of class around the training ground, knows where the net is, minimal wages, more good PR for the club. win win win win situation Lennon won't play him if he's not up to it. Quote
MickyD Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 went last night. Trotter, at times, seemed to want to be Eidur's bezzie mate. He often looked for a ball to him rather than out wide where our wide men were waiting for the ball. He is no Jardel but looked to be huffing and puffing a bit at the end of each half. Some hard training needed. Zac Clough could play in Centre mid now. If he's good enough he's old enough. And he is good enough. Bovril at the match takes me back a bit. Quote

fishbulb Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Agree with a lot of that. Trotter got forward quite quickly at times. He noticeably favoured passing the EG. He had a really weird style of turning, a bit like a tank. If you mean Eidur was huffing then yes, to be fair at 36 and not at match fitness playing with a load of lads in their 20's going at 300mph then not too surprising. Zach Clough is very good. Only seen him play a handful of times but always impresses. Really good work rate and seems to have his head screwed on right. Fwiw I also thought he was very good in Malcolm in the Middle. Quote
kent_white Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I'm still reserving judgement on Trotter. When we signed him all the papers were saying it was a great bit of business, plus he's good on Football Manager (2014) :-) He must have something about him, even if he's never shown it at our place. Hoping NL can coax it out of him..... Quote
Zico Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 tranmere, very early one season when we were in the big end possibly one of the worst misses ive ever seen hes always had them in his locker Aye opening day of the season Ended 0-0 He volleyed it wide from about 8 yards looking for a fancy finish Quote
jules_darby Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I'm with Ani and Casino on Eidur Far from convinced but it would delight me if he graced the shirt in the right way again Quote
Cheese Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Judging any player on a single performance is fucking ridiculous. Mr Lennon is in the best position to make these decisions, so I'll trust in whatever he decides. Quote

MickyD Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 The difference is, nobody mentioned breakfast cereal, while some did express their opinion of some players based on one game of football... And your suggestion would be . . .? One or two posters turned up at an U21 game in which former favourite, Eider Gudjohnsen, played. We'd love to tell you how he looked in a 90 minute game, unfortunately, as he didn't then go on and play another 6 games, we aren't able to. Movement - No comment, he's only played 90 minutes Skill - No comment, he's only played 90 minutes. Etcetera When the Bolton News does a match report, do they report on how well the players did IN THAT 90 MINUTE GAME or, if a player had a bad game do they report that he was great in the previous three games?
