Change Of Owner?

Radio 5 spoke to 'Dean' this morning. Think it was Holdsworth but didn't catch the beginning of the conversation.

He said it was a great club and when asked specifically will it be bought he replied with a resounding 'yes'.

The most worrying thing is that the prospective new owners don't have any proper money.

I get the distinct feeling this is just one big asset stripping exercise.

If the deano/jones tag team get in, jones will pilfer the land like he's done before and sports shield will reap the benefits of the forthcoming fire sale to balance the books.

There's not one party involved interested in running the club at a loss and chucking pots of cash about to gamble our way out of this. And rightly so.

ED won't be losing out in any of this imo. What he's actually lost in the first place remains up for debate.

Nobody is taking over and pouring millions in. But I don't think Sports Shield have hung around all this time just looking to asset strip, most of the assets will be gone before they complete anything. It is taking a long time because it is a very complex situation and I imagine, the parties involved do not want to take on a club and be landed with a historic tax bill and historic debt. Whoever takes over will be looking to streamline and run a football club rather than the large operation Burnden Leisure has become.

And who has gained with the asset strip?

Deanos main backer.

And Ed obviously.

If Jones didn't buy the car park the club may well be in a worse position than it already is. I get the cynicism but I don't think we have much choice but to hope new owners do the right thing. Jones is only involved in a minor way with the Sports Shield mob, at least is what I've heard. He's not looking to invest loads, there are other investors behind it.

Not saying it will be pretty but more I've heard more I think they might be our best bet. We need to re-evaluate and sell off non-footballing assets and get back to being a football club, that can survive within its means, with a little support. I think that is the model sports shield are proposing.

Rather them than some other options in my view!

Can you say what you have heard. Because none of this inspires me atm.

Just that they are most committed out of interested groups to buying the club and working with the supporters trust. Also that they want to focus on the football side not the business side.

Would you prefer the bid Disley is involved with for instance?

agree with this, the car park is hardly going to be a great loss and two training facilities is extravagant in our position, I've heard the hotel makes about 800k a year so can understand why they want to keep that.it looks to me like the tax bill and the payday loan we took out have been a stumbling block so hopefully when that's been paid we'll be a little nearer. We don't know how much money each of the consortium have got to put in,but can't blame them for not jumping straight in to the mess that the club is in at the moment.

Haha no mate was a genuine question. I hope you're right. If thats the case I hope you're right. I don't need a billionaire owner just someone who I can trust to have the clubs/teams best interests at heart

Disley has fingers in more than one pie.

Disley has fingers in more than one pie.

Were those pies cooling off on a windowsill?

I'm now grasping to the flimsy hope Sportshield see us running within our means and developing players to sell on...A longer term concern, rather than them merely picking us up on the cheap and picking us clean then tossing us down for the next round of scavengers - a situation described by that Pompey Trust bloke (this happening to them, until the trust was able to pick up the remnants).

Just getting people in with a clue how much should be being players in the relevant division we are in would be a start.

There was a 'heads gone' thing of talk sport yesterday, Derby are looking to sign a player and he has asked for £10k per week, they were saying he was being greedy.

I wonder what the most we have paid a player in the same division ?

I think the majority of clubs, they really should have some kind of salary cap. It might be OK for the big clubs with wealthy owners to splash around obscene amounts of money for players wages, but not a club like us in the Championship.

It would be interesting to know what the average salary is in League 1? I'd imagine "when" we get relegated and IF we manage to sign new players next season, I can't see us paying more than around 5K max for one players weekly salary, possibly even half of that.

£28,000, allegedly.

Mears, Baptiste etc

All of these players proved at one stage or another that they were capable players who could positively contribute and perform to an acceptable level.

It's a waste time now as we have gone beyond that stage but with the proper manager we wouldn't be comparing shite players against size of wages.

Feck it.

If deanos lads come in and strip assets but leave us solvent for deano to run.. Is that any worse than going into administration? obviously leave a few like the stadium

you do realise asset stripping could well be dropping the ground and rebuilding shops on the site?
