When this gaping hole appears, there will be a walkway through to Bradshawgate with boards either side.

Sounds like an ideal place for beggars, layabouts, and folk with nothing better to do, to hang about.

Bit of a captive market for those scrounging cash.

The council really have to get the replacement for the arndale sorted in quick time- not the years it is expected to sit there with next to fuck all happening.

I do like the market side of things though

A bit of an update on the development.

I read similar in BN.

I take his point, but I'm not comfortable with demolishing it without having a plan already drawn up.

Can see it being dragged out.

You should be concerned...look at what happened at the Broadmarsh Centre in Nottingham, there's been a big holein the city centre forover 6 years

I didn’t bother this year but wife and MiL enjoyed James Martin this morning. Money for old rope at £30 a chuck, mind.

Tbf, they couldve walked out and watched free acts on the 'main stage' for free

Flatcappers were great fun, but they do err on the side of Oirish

So where was the Golden Fleece? Or did it never exist?

It's taking a year to demolish. No-one officially seems to be mentioning it (probably for the benefit of those who live/work nearby) but I suspect that's because its full of asbestos.  That's a big question mark to any developer if you sell the site with the building still there.

I may have told this story before but my best memory of the festival was in 2019 and the Headingly Test. I’d spent the morning walking and  listening to TMS on the last day of that memorable match. I ended up in the crescent in my own little world with the pods in.
I kept seeing people who I know and I just wanted to listen to the match.
I eventually ended up in the Vaults and with a pint and a seat, I settled down to listen to the final stages.
When Stokes smashed that four, I lept up and cheered. Half the people were startled, including the young girl singing but the other half knew.

The young girl singing by the way realised later as she went to school with my youngest and played cricket in the school team with him.
Great day.

Popped up on YouTube the highlights of that match the other day, remarkable

I don't think there was one.

There was the Fleece Hotel, which became Maxims and then the Flying Flute and there was the Golden Lion on Churchgate. Maybe folk have mixed the two?

The Fleece Hotel became The Gaiety. I started going in there late 70s when it was known as that. There were still remnants of the Fleece name in there then. Became Maxims some time after that

Think you’re confusing it with the Golden Lion on Churchgate

Definitely did mate. Directly opposite the Prince Bill. Had a few different names after that - Gaiety, Maxims, Flying Flute. You'd have to tell me what it is now.

Just researched it. Gobsmacked. I didn't get the 'Golden' bit from the Brass Cat I assure you. Genuinely believed it was the Golden Fleece at some stage. Every day is a school day.
