MancWanderer
I really wanted today's "response" to give me some hope that all is well in my home town Unfortunately not
miamiwhite
Na mate it stinks. Look at the time line. They went in months before the "emergency powers" Grant and discussions had been made before then...but nobody knew about them? Na. Bollocks. If it stinks of shit it usually is. And for the business rate income per year versus the "refurb" costs...no, knowing how much I pay for the footage I have I'm simply not having it. They've jazzed up the premises a bit with games room, endless prayer rooms, flat screen tv in each room, plus glory holes connected to the women's bogs. Still an absolute joke re the ratio of rates to refurb costs though, absolute fraud.
kent_white
To be fair Smiffs - business rates and all that is something I know nothing about. Although aren't they saying the building cost 1.8 million to refurb so Asons had to pay the remaining 1.5 million? So if they're paying business rates of £90,000 we'll make our money back and more in 4 years. Plus we'll keep the jobs in town. Plus a massive empty building in the centre is now done up and in use. That's how I read it anyway.
radcliffe white
The rock is overrated. I gladly now prefer shopping in Bolton over Bury again.bury is superb for shopping yes rock is small but there is also millgate and retail parks just off, wins hands down IMO
Moderators Carlos Posted December 23, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 23, 2016 I'd imagine that every single employer in Bolton is now looking for an emergency grant.

Look at it another way...every business in bolton pulled the same charade and got the equivalent of free business rates for 4 years, bolton corpy would be insolvent by the end of the month. Add in the fact the boss on his 4th lamborgini and they're ambulance chasing scum, makes it an even more bitter pill to swallow. These lowlife scum offer fuck all to society, they are leeches. Youri McAnespie
One would hope if it'd been a white british owned revolving-door employer. who's stock in trade was scumsucking leech system playing on a detrimental to our whole society tip, and they'd tried to bend our elected 'representatives' over the garden wall they'd have been told to sling their grubby fucking hooks. Even a wishy-washy liberal might feel their (Asons) background possibly meant instead that they looked more favourably upon the ransom demand... Lets see if 'we' even break even on the deal, let's see if Asons are still plying their scummy trade from Churchgate in three or four years time... Site Supporter Spider Posted December 24, 2016 Site Supporter Share Posted December 24, 2016 If I was spending £1.8million on refurbs, I reckon I could shave £300k off somewhere and not need to get it from the local council. They are basically saying they had access to £1.5million but needed a little extra for pool tables. Anyone who thinks this sounds plausible is either on glue or wants putting down. Bollocks - if you had £1.8 million to spend on refurbs but thought you could get £300,000 of it for nowt - you'd not take it out of a sense of public duty? Course you'd take it. This is how the system works. You can't start moaning when somebody plays the game. I get that it's galling - particularly given the owners ostentation. And doubly so given the nature of the business. But if they'd let the business leave for Blackburn or wherever there would be plenty on here slating the council saying they should be doing more to protect jobs. In my eyes - this has found its way into headlines because the owner is a flashy raygun and Morris is deeply unpleasant looking.
no balls
Seriously, I'd not slate the council for letting ambulance chasers leave this town. It's a disgusting 'business'. Morris said to me "jobs are jobs". My reply, at what cost. He's an eloquent fella. The whole affair stinks. And you're wrong. The national press have got hold of this due to misuse of powers. Moderators Carlos Posted December 24, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 24, 2016 The question is why was this done under emergency powers, with money for emergencies, with no due process?

Why not allocate the cash and put a sign up on the town hall steps that says "fuck you we're buying votes with you cash, cunts" to all the socialists? The fact that even dyed in the wool capikalists like us are annoyed should tell you that this is simply wrong. It's bollocks , plain and simple. Site Supporter MickyD Posted December 24, 2016 Site Supporter Share Posted December 24, 2016 Agreed. These folk are elected, all SIXTY of them, and by electing them we expect that they will do everything for the betterment of our town. Had this £300k been allocated to any business after due process and deliberation, I'd happily accept that it falls within the remit of the council chambers and its occupants. This due process and deliberation was not followed and therefore questions were raised.Did Cllr. Clifford Morris expect that his emergency gift of £300k would go unnoticed? Equally galling, did the remaining Labour Councillors think that by backing Morris's actions it somehow means it's all above board again? After all, if Morris was NOW to take the proposal to the council chambers, surely the 37 Labour Councillors would vote it through against the 23 others. You can't get away from the fact that Morris is a crooked bastard who I wouldn't trust to run a bath, never mind a Metropolitan Borough Council. Right - because Mrs Ahmed was about to vote for UKIP - but now the owner of Asons has been bought and spread the word onto the Muslim collective grapevine - she's going to tow the line. They're people you know - not the Borg? Like I said. This story has blown up because of race - not regulations. If the council have done owt wrong - then they should be hung, drawn and quartered by an independent inquiry.
