Anderson Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I don't know if shameless self promotion is frowned upon but I'm going to do it anyway, feel free to delete if necessary. Me and some friends have started this blog type thing I guess you could call it where we're going to travel to away ends up and down the country and review, blog, take pictures and maybe eventually vlog the events. Just a fun idea trying to turn a hobby and something we all enjoy into something more hopefully, I'd appreciate it if you could give it a follow and if it's not completely shit tell some people about it. Can find us on Twitter @TheAwayDayGuys and first up is Rotherham away at Leeds today, hopefully the first of many. Quote
jules_darby Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Well I like it Nice one Anderson Will give you a follow Quote
stevieb Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Is it going to be like Danny dyer's effort? Getting off at half time as it's getting pwopa nawty! Quote
Marc505 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Nice one I'll be having a follow of that! Reminds me of this site I keep track of, a few Welsh lads doing similar. The amount of games and grounds they get to is ridiculous https://lostboyos.wordpress.com/ Quote
Zico Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 So how many away ends we been in when bolton weren't playing? Off top of my head I've been in with Cambridge at Peterborough, West Brom at Sheff Utd, Notts County at Wigan (twice) and Rochdale and Newcastle at Wigan Quote
Carlos Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Erm Rushden Diamonds at Rochdale in the play-offs. Quote
Marc505 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 So how many away ends we been in when bolton weren't playing? Off top of my head I've been in with Cambridge at Peterborough, West Brom at Sheff Utd, Notts County at Wigan (twice) and Rochdale and Newcastle at Wigan Burton at Rochdale a few years ago (Calvin Zola scored!) Chesterfield at Oldham in JPT Area Final second leg. Jack Lester scored in stoppage time to send them to Wembley, absolutely wild scenes, then the Fine Young Casuals I think they call themselves, broke through the lines but stopped at an imaginary barrier. A few in Germany. Never feels quite right though. Quote
no balls Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Hereford v Brighton 1997. The day Brighton stayed up and Hereford didn't. A ridiculous chain of events led us to Edgar Street, so we thought fuck it, tossed a coin for which end, the away end won the toss and the game. Brilliant day out! Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 He goes to a few Colls games.Loves a bit of self promotion that mon. Quote
gonzo Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Went with my pal from school to Wrexham away watching Blackpool. They had to win to make play offs and they only drew. Wrexham steamed through the seats at the side and smashed Blackpool all over. Went to Preston and Carlisle for a nosey at off the field activities 2003ish. There were running battles through moor park at the Preston one. I got thrown out at Carlisle when police plucked me from the stands and tried to give me some kind of section order with the only reason being I was known on their system. I just walked off and went back to the pub really boverd. Quote
Whites man Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Went to a few when I was a student, Stoke at Barnsley in a cup game, Villa at both Sheffields. Took a few mates to the cup replay at Chesterfield when it all went off outside after the game. I was asked "is it like this every week?". Quote
green genie Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Went to see Happy Mondays at Wemberley 90 and decided to go to Citeh at Old Den. Fecking hilarious as all E'd up mancs realised second summer of love never reached sarf London. Wasn't any blending into crowd baggied up. Quote
birch-chorley Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Few Oldham aways with a mate of mine... PNE, Everton in the FA Cup and Wigan I was ejected from the first 2 The chief steward who ejected me from Goodison remembered ejecting me earlier on that season when Wanderers were there. Don't think many have been ejected twice from an away ground in 1 season following 2 different clubs? Them were the days Quote
miamiwhite Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Brixton and I went in the Brum end at Burnden around 1990 with some Blues Brixton knew, not his best shirt I may add. After the match, walking out onto Manny Road, we felt how away fans often felt as the Waggon n Horses emptied and went straight into Jasper Carrot's lot. We gladly stepped to one side and let the melee continue. Went to the infamous Everton/ Boro trilogy Cup saga in the late 80's, they were seriously naughty, lots of lads from both side suffering from knife wounds. Very moody indeed. Quote
MancWanderer Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 For various reasons West Ham at Arsenal - the only time in my life that I can say that I've truly been terrified when it kicked off in the Clock End Liverpool at Notts County - they won the league that day - ended up on the pitch due to the crush in the pen that we were stood - no blame to be laid at the coppers' feet - couple of years before Hillsborough - taints my view about who was to blame for that Coventry at Sheff Weds - midweek, pissing down, about 6000 on at Hillsborough - thoroughly depressing Man City at Stoke - at the old ground - nasty Spurs at Villa - Londoners are fucking weird Love Bolton away days. You see and recognise the same faces. You know who's a dick, who you can have a pint and a chat with, you know when to move seats if necessary. Enjoyed away days with my mates but something's missing... Quote
bgoefc Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 None. Used to go to Bury in the 70's when Bolton were darn south and couldn't afford it or wuz working Sat morn, some minor skirmishes with blues and reds but never anything to write home about. Quote
leigh white Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Went O/T in 81 when they played Birmingham. The copper on the gate asked me the Brum phone code, I got in to see the Worthy & Whatmore partnership again and Frankie scored the equalizer. Quote
QFPants Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Best mate's a Rovers fan so done a few aways with him, remember us both watching them win at Charlton on the Saturday then us get beat 2-1 at Spurs on the Sunday; long drive home after that. He has done plenty of others with us too (Newcastle, Preston, Guimaraes, even the away end at Blackburn on that Sunday after the Madrid game), sure he's a Wanderer on the sly Quote
jules_darby Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Not done many Went to Macclesfield away win Southend as my mate is a shrimper Was in the home end but with a mob of away fans when Citeh and Stoke both got relegated at the Britannia. Was living down there at the time and having a local address was the only way to get the tickets. Half of the lot with us ran into the away end at various points Quote
