What I do not understand is because the Tories have announced they are taking up the  Labour idea of taxing non-doms - why does that mean that Labour need to find that money from somewhere else.

Surely it will still raise the same amount ?

Yeah, know what you mean

I suppose the issue is that Labour would have to scrap a Tory promise to spend it on something

Get that but rather scrapping something they just need to produce their own budget ?? Half the stuff they talked about in budget won't happen till after election or least won't have any impact.

Labour promised to spend it on amongst other things more scanners for the NHS (not sure who they were planning on interpreting the scans?). So now in order to keep that promise Labour need to find a tax to increase to keep within their own promise of no 'uncosted' spending. The obvious one would be to reverse the latest NI cut.

The elephant in the room is the 'productivity savings' assumptions and the rather simple thinking that appears to underpin them.

But if it was going to raise £10 bn a year it will still raise £10bn per year. So that money is there. I get that the NI cut leaves a hole so is it that which needs to be balanced ?

Boo...

according to that Mrs Sweep is £12.71 per month better off, whilst I'm £62.76 worse off each month

Guardian has me £1,3010 better off and Mrs Me £1,300 better off a year. Sky reckons due to tax band stagnation I’m only £40 better off a year.

I guess that’s better than nothing - a ticket to an away game or a reach around from @Big E.

Yeah that's it. So to still do what they wanted to spending wise they face the choice of reversing the NI cut and the Tories labelling them as raising taxes on 'hardworking families' or they keep the spending commitment and the NI cut and they are labelled 'fiscally irresponsible.'

Best of an awful bunch but she has Windrush and hostile environment to tar her name.

I’m sure the £115,000 ex-PM annual handout will soften the blow of losing her seat.

I've always had hygienist down as being unnecessary add ons

They don't do anything you can't do yourself with a brush, floss and mouth wash

I don't know, haven't been in years so they need a proper scale and polish and one of my old fillings needs redoing.
