I get that, I suspect ultimately we won't be any poorer, or any better off. My guess is that we'll be "poorer" short term (10 years say) and then we'll get back to roughly where we were before. I'm not falling for these stories saying we'll descend into a pit of doom, equally I don't believe we'll be living in goldplated houses either

Brexit was never about being richer or poorer.

I never said it was or thought it was, as I've said, ultimately, it won't make a jot of difference to the wealth of the majority of individuals. And, has been said on here many times, if people are worse off, it really is tough shit

And here’s me thinking high on the agenda was the fact UK sent a lot of money out of our country to spend overseas. So whilst it may not be about individuals getting richer or poorer, we were definitely assured as a country, we’d collectively be better off.

Continue without using the words sovereignty (which we had) passports(had the) or free to make our own way (we did)

All the above is now solely in our governments control, that's what we voted for and very happy we are someway down the road and Brexit is disappearing into the past, obviously FBPE, hard line remainers will keep harping on about every bump in the road, but normal sane and rational folk will just be getting on with it.

You really are the gift that keeps giving.

I'm afraid there is nothing sane or rational about your position, historically, economically or intellectually.

It's amazing how little intelligence is applied by the extreme left on here before putting their besandalled foot in their vast chasm of a gob.

You write of 'little intelligence' then make reference to an 'extreme left' prescence on here?

Jesus wept, don't go to any Momentum or Socialist Workers' Party meetings if you think there's an extreme left here.

You'll think you've beamed back in time to a Stalinist Tribunal.

I don't think there's an extreme right either, just an ageing, fearful, out-of-touch rag tag rabble who feel increasingly alienated and irrelevant year on year...

This leads to delusional cultish ways such as; Defeffalism, having Moggist tendencies and being a Tommehphile...

In your opinion.

You have yet to prove anything I've said is wrong with real facts, just gets getnon with it, wasn't about money anyway. You've wrongly used things like self-determination as a reason which is so misguided as to almost be willful in its refusal to engage with what is happening now.

It's not an opinion based on what's in my gut, it's based on the evidence we see, we hear, we read. That's what forming opinions is about, otherwise we'd just settle on whatever something was 'just because it felt right....'

Oh, yes quite.

I won't up to this playing on my radio alarm, thought I was still down the K-hole I dropped into at the Museum of the Year Awards afterparty...

EFA, btw your posts above re: Brexit are luttered (sic) with spelling mistakes i.e. the Whitt-esque 'certinly'...

Just a heads-up to edit before it's Bolty's dinnertime and he arrives to point out these mistakes (made in haste no doubt) as evidence you're a Stalinist bastard whose opinions are invalid.

And, yes, Spider, he's right, I am proof white men can dance, I used to be like a nectar pot for sexy dancer girls at clubs, raves and gigs.

It's all in the hips - gives an insight into what a top shag you'd be 😉

I am, or should be, as we lost a few customers......fortunately the huge IC shortage, is allowing me to more than over compensate for that lost trade. In the ideal world, I'd still have those EU based customers though, and be far better off than I actually am at the minute

I agree and would add the following.  Loads of sectors have been affected, manufacturing, agriculture, finance to name a few.  If you aren’t directly affected you are very fortunate. We will have less choice though and will have to pay more for certain products. Food and energy costs will be a double whammy because of wider global impacts.  Our economy has essentially shrunk, many small businesses can’t trade here anymore so have moved or gone under.  Then we come to transport, lack of drivers and specialist jobs where we cannot replace the EU workers. Some of that is covid related but equally there was no adequate government plan to help the sectors affected.

I’m sorry for ruining Brexit by pointing out that folk are worse off when we told we would be better off.

I genuinely am sorry.

I was honestly hoping to be better off as the clever men all said.

Thing is, being dyslexic, I'm not that bothered. I very much proof my real work. Although maybe being dyslexic is a left wing conspiracy. Funny thing though, the best copywriters I've ever met are usually dyslexic, down to the subs to make it look nice. I'm a sticker for grammar though in writing.

MOTY? Got in at 5, was in bed most of the day doing a few emails and arguing with Paul to keep the nausea at bay. Ended up in some shitty bar in soho. All praise the free bar.

That's stickler by they way!

Don’t pick up on others then.
I think that’s what he was getting at.

Who do you know that is Poorer specifically because of brexit? Apart from spider who doesn’t really like to talk about it.

My wife

She is a sole trader who exports her produce

She has lost two thirds of her turnover

I'll introduce you at a match and let you say that to her... don't expect to live

One I didn’t ask you

two that’s a genuine shame.   one of my best mates lost his job two months ago  was on his arse. he’s retraining now  I’m proud of him and how he’s reacted

three. Give over with the ballooning

Posted

If you put it up on a web board you ask everyone so I cannot accept that.

My wife's European and American business has gone.

What exactly is ballooning?
