Not now. But the impact on small businesses means I could be.

The 40% rates relief is good though.

However it's still some hike for a business with a few staff.

Listen here chum, Brexit benefits are coming any minute now.

So you just bloody well get on with it.

If you don’t like it, emigrate with all the other patriots.

Hitler would have us all speaking German inside a year if he’d been around these days.

The extent to which I care about VAT on private schools is that I think the governors might resort to getting rid of bursaries/scholarships to recoup the cost, which will only remove an opportunity for working class children

They could do with looking at the wages on their heads/leadership teams. Mindboggling some of them for some pretty minor public schools.

More money into a better state system so working class kids don't have to think private schools are 'better' - the thing they give you is confidence - some of the numbest folks I know went to public schools, but lord above don't they fail upwards by being the loudest voice in the room and having connections with money.

Maybe have 4 holidays instead of 5.

Woah, woah, woah, steady on. No need for such drastic action, let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Me to, and grammar schools, then my kids go to one, but then I'm a hypocritical champagne swilling Shed Seven hating southern commie bastard after all.

Well done for copying a pasting a load of coulds and maybes.

On the flip side, if it results in fewer buy to lets, it could increase the stock of homes for first time buyers and may stimulate that market. Maybe. Could do.

Well done for making your own up.

And maybe get rid of a load of unscrupulous landlords.

I'm hoping this government will bring a 'fair rents' cap into the private sector. Some rental figures are eyewatering.
Junior is at Uni in Exeter and shares a 3-bedroomed house with 2 friends, they each pay £195 per week in rent before bills.

The government usually pay higher rent rates to private landlords than what privates tenants pay.

But when you drive on roads, use the NHS, need the police or travel on a train you should start to see an improvement in the service rather than a constant deterioration like the last 14 years. Having better public services is good for all working people.  What has happened under the Tories is unforgivable.

must be viewed as decent then, if they're not "spooked" - which, other than Bolty, I'm sure we're all glad about

Only a matter of time. This is Labour. There is an air of inevitability.

I have heard rumours that some landlords who on some days are up in arms about the levels of immigration then rent out their properties via the Govt to these immigrants.

Imagine that 😂😎😘

They’d be stupid not to. Business is business and if you’re going to get well over the odds with additional perks then go for it,

Agreed. We've regressed as a nation.

Impossible. I have been hearing for nearly two decades now about the wonders of diversity and inclusion and the UK's embracing of these. You must be wrong.

According to some of your recent posts, Poland must be on its knees due to its immigration policies?

So are we the greatest nation on earth or aren’t we?

You seem confused

😁

Difficult one. Our nipper went through the whole process. She’s young for her school year so she’s just turned 9 when it all kicked off. The pressure put on kids at a young age was an eye opener.

And the whole cottage industry built up around tutors tends to skew it to those kids whose parents can afford the tutoring.

They do get fantastic results, but so they should if they’re skimming off the brightest kids with supportive and motivated parents.

I’d definitely would have preferred working in one when I was still in that game, that’s for sure.

So, dunno really. Classic splinters in my arse if I’m honest.

Fair enough mate. Obviously as a product of a good one I am very much in favour of them.

Jumping subjects but, as we had discussed this loosely the other day, just had a notification from the East Lancs Railway that they are running free Halloween Ghost Train trips for kids today. I know the concept is a load of American piffle but great for the kids. Full marks to the ELR.

Grammar Schools are great. The problem is that we badge people who do not get in as 'thick'. If the non Grammar schools could adopt subjects to suit their students then those schools can prosper too.

It is a similar debate to apprenticeships v degrees, some people are more suited to one than the other. The problem with the non Grammar schools is they also get dumped with the feral kids no interest in learning of any type which will drag others down.

maybe, but there is a difference between "expecting it to happen" which is where many of us are and "wanting it to happen" which is where you seem to be 😁

we used to be, now we're getting what we deserve....or something like that. Only Farage can save us

I went to private school on a bursary, my youngest went to grammar school and is now at Uni, but I'm against tiered education.

My son went to the local comp, but still went to Uni, got a good degree and a Masters and has a decent job, whilst I home-schooled my eldest for her last two years of her GCSEs and she now owns two businesses in Australia.

Scrap or heavily tax private education, get away with non fee-paying grammar schools, pay teachers a fair wage and attract the best talent to state education.
