This survey by the BCC offers a gloomy outlook. This is the reality of the budget.
To avoid any doubt and to get it in first, it’s not as bad as the Truss/Krawteng budget👍

I think and opine frequently that the NI on business was a mistake. I said so at the time. However, I also have to concede I don’t know how I’d have raised the money elsewhere. And the gilt markers last week show why it was necessary to do so. Maybe she could have halved business increase and employee contribution rises? Reversing some of the unfunded Tory tax cuts?

However, she would have been accused there of lowering demand. Consumer confidence is polling high presumably because they didn’t see any immediate tax rises so disposable income was preserved. And inflation is lower than it was.

It’s a tough balancing act. The biggest issue with reeves at the minute is she’s mixing up multiple economic theories. Bit of classical Osborne stuff, Brown and Biden. Not sure that will work.

14 years of complete dogshit and yet Reeves is being hammered for spending a bit of cash on a shovel and some doggy poo bags.

The largest and most vocal political lobby in this country is on the right. Look how quickly the farmers reacted to the change in inheritance tax rules last month and the support they received. It would have nice to see the doctors and nurses get support like that for insulting wage offers and stalling negotiations by the Tories.

Good news. GDP figures out later this week. Hopefully more good news. I doubt it. I could set my clock by your replies. Do you even get up? 😊

I suspect that he wears one. A pantomime cow with a red rosette.

fresh blow to holidaymakers

surely, should say immigrants

It’s only fair that Spain taxes these people highly. After all - they don’t want that backwards culture with its views from the Stone Age invading their territory.

I don't see a problem with it too be honest, we left the club, so they can charge us if they want. We should do the same to them.

I've heard folk on the radio say that it won't happen because tourism is too important......these are no doubt the same people who said the German car industry would ensure that we got a quick and simple fee trade deal once we left

We should do the same with these billionaires in London

London is (allegedly) the money laundering capital of the world, no way we're going to jeopardise that. We want more Chinese and Russian billionaires, not less

No surprise at the likers.

26.5% youth unemployment in Spain overall and higher in the deep South.

Reducing the Brit effect on the local economy would be exceptionally smart :rolleyes2:

I voted remain.

I like @Not in Crawley but I’m not sure I want to live in the same space as him, even if there’s no rent.

It's still up to them if they want to do it or not,I'm not sure they will, however we have no excuse to be "outraged" by it, which is what I suspect the media are trying to whip up.

Let them get on with it, if so they choose. Even if they do go ahead, I doubt it'll have little, if any effect on Brits going there

People keep mentioning this tourist thing and their economies.

The new suggested tax is on home owners isn't it?

Won't affect tourism a jot.

correct, some people aren't bright enough to separate the two of them

Now that gilts have dropped does that mean the markets now suddenly believe in Reeves’ plan? Or was it never actually anything to do with that?

when you buy a place in Spain

you pay MAD MAX on top of the sale price

about 6% and 10% on new builds

so a £300'000  house

so £18k  on top

and when you sell  A house in Spain

you have pay MAD MAX on the sale

Between 19-24%

Yesterday you said they don’t really matter. It’s one day. Here is the graph since the budget. They could go up tomorrow 🤷‍♂️
