He's not the only one. Looking forward to Manchester Ritz 12/12 like it's Xmas.

Given the new LP a spin yet? Out today.

U2 were shite, stopping every other song telling people to donate to the charity on the screen and to turn your phones to him so he could see how many people had done it.  Hows about you donate your fee you tax dodging shithouse.

Swanny got us tickets for the Blackpool lights switch on.  Rick Astley was fucking amazing.  Just an out and out entertainer.

Saw Rick Astley (thanks to Mrs Offshore); at the IW Festival this year. As you say, pure entertainment, a great sing -a- long. Twisted my head though when he sat at the drum kit and knocked out AC/DC's Highway to Hell!   Richard Ashcroft, who I've always been a bit 'meh' about, came on early thanks to Jess Glynn letting all her young fans down, just him & his acoustic. Fkn' blew me away! Incredible. A big shout out must also go to Bjorn Again............(And I've never liked ABBA). Maybe you had to be there.........

Fourth time around today as I type. Love it. Heard a couple of tunes earlier on radio 6 in the car and wasn't convinced but get it on decent playback and the quality shines through. Tempted to drive to Brizzle for record shop set on Sunday.

The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain in Lincoln two years ago. Inspired me to start playing, especially as they didn't play the usual suspect songs (When I'm Cleaning Windows, Tiptoe Through The Tulips etc) and really mixed it up musically.

Other honourable mentions are The Counterfeit Stones (Seen them 4 times and they take the piss out of the Stones legend (Marianne Faithfull pestering Jagger to open a Mars bar for her etc.) , but they can really play the music too) and although not musical per se, Roy 'Chubby' Brown, just as fat, filthy and funny as his DVDs.

Not changed my mind per se, but I didn't like The Coral or Supergrass live. Arctic Monkeys fucked up Old Trafford too

Seen supergrass live loads and they're ace but I didn't enjoy anyone live that day, was a shit gig all round including the crowd and queues for ale

Saw oasis and blur in the same week in Manchester at the height of the rivalry, about 95ish. I was all for oasis but they were shit live and blur were class. I didnt admit it to anyone at the time though. Loved cornershop but saw them live and it was the worst gig I've been too.

Was at a business meeting in Stratford about 10 years ago and a few of us adjourned to a boozer. Live act on upstairs in a big barn-like room that was only a couple of quid in so we wandered up for a gander. Place was rammed. Turned out it was Nik Kershaw sat on a stool with an acoustic guitar. He was superb. Massively different slant on his songs plus others that he’d written for other people. I was genuinely shocked how good he was

James were hugely disappointing last time out. Just before Xmas at the Arena. Way too much stuff off the last 2 albums. Don’t think I will bother again.

Was that the gig with Charlatans? It was the 3rd time I’d seen James and it was easily the worst of the 3. The other two were great, but this one was pretty shite.

Still, it was a free ticket so I can’t complain too much!

On the last tour he’s been totally on it, still an amazing singer and both were great shows. London edged it for me.

I’d love to see GnR live now Axl and Slash are back together. I’ve seen Slash live twice on his solo tours with Myles Kennedy (who is brilliant at doing the Guns classics) but it’s still not the same as the real thing.

Now it seems like Axl has finally decided to stop being a prick and making the fans wait hours for them to come on, I think I’ll get tickets next time they play in the UK.

Its a shame Izzy has never come back to the band though.

Saw REM at Milton Keynes bowl around the same time, they were a bit up their own arse, but Blur were one of the support bands and were fcuking brilliant.

As I've grown older I've started to appreciate that Blur piss all over Oasis from such a great height it's unreal.

Oasis have more "classic" songs than Blur though imo.I've never seen Oasis live but Blur were brilliant at Milton Keynes that day.

As an aside, i went to see Buzzcocks when they were young in 1979 at Blackburn King Georges hall, the support act were Joy Division who i had never heard of at the time , i was awe struck by the mental dancing and sheer stage presence of their lead singer  Ian Curtis, unfortunately he hung himself a few months later at just 23 years old.

A talented, yet troubled soul taken way to soon.

Didn't exactly change my course but, during my apprenticeship days, courses at the BIT exposed me to more scruffy fuckers than I would have liked but, by dint of a BWFC alliance with one of the hairy gits, I did find myself attending a few gigs where the 'alternatives' used to congregate with their 'Newcy Browns' and spliffs.

Not really my style of music but The Crazy World of Arthur Brown were highly hypnotic as were a French mob called Ange who were pushing a new album called Le Cimetiere Des Arlequins. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band really knew how to bring the house down (especially with their encore tune - 'Faith Healer').

Most were dross though - remember 'Hatfield & The North' and Principal Edwards with Belinda Bourquin being so bad that I have actually remembered them!

The other week , watched Dee Snider at Bloodstock ( sunday afternoon slot).

Went to see Fugazi many years ago.

Didn't know many of their songs but as the godfathers of Emo I thought they'd be worth the free tickets and a night drinking with my mates.

Soooo dull left half way through to play pool at Jabez Clegg.

Arctic monkeys at the MEN

I first saw them above the thirsty scholar around the time they released their EP ‘Who the fuck are the arctic monkeys’ £3 ticket.

I was a fan. Second album they did the MEN fuck me it was so flat and dull I couldn’t believe it. Saw them at Glastonbury a few years later and it was like someone had said cmon lads you need to do a bit more on stage. Totally different.
