Breightmet Boy
My niece got married on Friday and my Brother-In-Laws speech started with her telling him she’d met someone and she liked him. His first words were “Who does he support?” Anyhow, the best man, who is the grooms uncle, stood up to do his speech and the first thing he asked when the groom told him about my niece was “Who does she support?” We’ve never had a supporter of anyone else introduced into our family and I wondered if any of you lot have and taken a instant dislike to a daughters/sons partner because of who they support, or do they know better than to bring one home? I don’t think he’d mind that much as long as she’s happy, but it does seem important at the same time.

Moderators Zico Posted September 2, 2019 Moderators Share Posted September 2, 2019 what's worse though when they support someone you're not keen on, or, "they're not really into football"

athywhite1958
My youngest daughter has been seeing a bloke for over 12 months, she won't bring him home because he's a red from Manchester and she said "I know what you are like"
Gonk
The daughters boyfriend is a Wolves fan. It pains me every day, but apart from that he's OK and treats her well, and she can be a high maintenance drama queen, so I manage to keep on an even keel. That and they live down south

Unfortunately my Nan misheard "a black country". She's a lovely woman but you should have seen her face.
frank_spencer
When my mate came out to his parents they said "we'd be just as upset if your brother came home with a black girl" They live in an English enclave in Portugal and barely speak a word of Portuguese. Site Supporter only1swanny Posted September 5, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted September 5, 2019 First time i met my (now wife)'s family, I went round on my 1000cc motorbike, (apparently they heard me coming down the street), bike leathers, shaved head.. beard...and Bolton shirt... I remember the look on her dads face when i took my jacket off and was wearing a Bolton Shirt.. Until i nearly got kicked out of the house for dropping the "s" bomb during a conversation 😛
Underpants
When my next door neighbour told me he was moving out he told me my new neighbours would be his step-daughter and her fella. My first question was not HBAHT? It was who's his team? Then it was HBAHT? Edited September 5, 2019 by Underpants
Duck Egg
Our family on both sides are such staunch Wanderers fans any one coming in soon gives into it. I was sat with a red on Tuesday night, who's been to several of our games over the years. He knows there's no chance any of us would go to OT with him
