I think you’re right. But it’s also exactly what we thought would happen anyway in terms of the lockdown , release and then lockdown cycle is it not? So not a surprise?

I’m happy to continue with my life as is at the moment. That said from an economic point of view it really is getting dire and if it was affecting me financially or Potentially long term career wise I would likely be pushing To get back to something more normal as well

I know our government (small g) is different than in Germany but there it sounds like individual regions have been given permission to break from their overall exit strategy and reintroduce localised lockdown if cases spike again in certain areas.

I wonder how or if the same could be done here or whether once you open pandoras box (tabloids today reporting like weve all been released from jail for example) that it'd be impossible to say something like sorry Greater Manchester you have to restart lockdown but Lancashire is fine. Probably be a civil war in Bolton over which region we are in!

It’s been categorically ruled out mate. We are all under the same rules. Impossible to enforce that scenario of regionalization as you highlight

We probably need to ease up a little, but we’ve already seen that a lot of people don’t know how to behave. 
 

I miss the pub, restaurants etc, but these need to stay categorically shut. 
 

It’s an awfully tough decision for the govt., but people will take the piss and fuck it up.

It's obvious that a lot of folk are making their own rules up now like thinking it's ok to go and see your friends and family as long as you stay 2m apart. The problem with workers though is if they were furloughed on March 23rd and the furlough/claim cycle lasts 3 weeks then surely they can't go back into work until May 25th or their employer will end up not being able to claim for some weeks ?

3 weeks from march 23rd is about 14th april?

He’s announcing it this Sunday I imagine so that employers have a week to decide how to get their people back to work.

I expect 60/70% of the workforce will be off furlough from the 25th.

I think you can be furloughed for 4,5,6,7 etc weeks

Its just got to be a minimum of 3 week blocks

So, if we get some back in next week, then they go off again, its a minimum 3 weeks off

I don't think you can, would love to know for sure and would also be helpful if I was totally wrong.

We unfurloughed someone last week who was furloughed on the 30th and the advice we got was that we would end up not being able to claim for a week for him - he'd get 30/03 06/04 13/04 and then we'd not be able to claim for 20/04 as he was back in on 27/04.

Someone going back on the 25th who is paid monthly - do we just pay them for a week at normal rates? Will they get 3 weeks of the £2,500 pro-rata off the govt?

Stricter lock down may have worked. Similarly more may have railed against it

We can never truly know either way.

One thing that has come out of it, is the large amount of selflessness and community spirit that is there within the population.

And on the flip side, a significant amount of selfishness, and self entitled cuntishness and folk always wanting to pin fault on someone else.

Germany will lockdown regionally again, if they see more than 50 new infections per 100,000 population in a week.

I'm assuming there will be a target for tests per population too.  

To put that in perspective,  that would be 100 new infections in a week In Bolton before restrictions started again.

I think we are more than double that in the NW at the moment,  I'm assuming with  much less testing than Germany, I'll see if I can get the stats from anywhwere.

I think if you lockdown severely and it works, you can just point at other countries. NZ and Australia do this with Europe, particularly UK. 

The UK's big issue is you've locked down and still >30k have died.

The population is not as dense in NZ as the UK (population 50% of London, Size greater than UK).

And I'm guessing the population is not as dense in NZ as the UK. See the street parties tomorrow for evidence.

When you have discussions such as 'How far am I allowed to travel for a takeaway, Which Garden Centres are open' I'm not sure you have lockdown.
