One of our brickies at work ended up in hospital on steroids... he's back now, gave me a right shouting down this week... it was like music to my ears :-)

Sorry just edited it.

Well in answer, I doubt very much they are happy with the figures, but that they are acceptable when balancing the economy and livelihoods.

Numbers in a month or two will be the acid test, and I'd guess that's why they're pushing vaccine passports/jabs etc, to protect as many as possible before winter comes.

Numbers in hospital will surely be the main issue; more restrictions would be uncomfortable.

That has to be the only issue

Unless folk start dying in big numbers pre hospitalisation

So surely all the restrictions were lifted to quickly. Were still wearing masks whenever were inside in a public area in Spain and our infection rates have dropped dramatically. Well below UK figures.

The masks issue is an interesting one; you may be right. Difficulty is getting folk to stick with it- it was certainly not 100% adhered to whilst still law.

Plenty of folk also denying thir effect, saying the science doesn't back up their use. Others saying the opposite.

Remember too, that the numbers were much lower when restrictions were lifted- they only increased afterwards. The same will happen elsewhere.

This is part of the difficulty for NZ and Aus now. Until their vaccinated numbers are very high, they're stuck with either bouncing between strict measures or accepting rapidly increasing numbers with a more open society again.

For those who have had it, what was the last symptom you experienced?

The occasional cough is now producing and there are traces of what looks to me like infection within the production.

Very possible. Burnden has it, and its not uncommon to get a secondary, bacterial infection.

Take care, and call a gp if it gets rough.

Thanks but I think I’m turning the corner with it and not really had it that rough.

Im thinking that the product is from my body ridding itself of the infection.

Big indicator for me was my daughter putting an oxygen meter on me and my oxygen being 88.....rang 111 and they sent an ambulance and whisked me in here .....I though 88 out of 100 was fine but apparently it needs to be minimum 95 or it isnt safe.  Get well soon Morizio

88 is bad

Anything under 80 and you’re in genuine danger

Thank you but I think my trouble with it is very slight compared to yours. My thoughts are with you and I hope you come out of hospital soon and very well

"Oxygen meter": always makes me smile- once worked with an Iranian student who frequently needed to used a "dissolved oxygen meter" in his work. Whenever he asked for one, it sounded like he was saying "sausages" so that became his name.

I think I’ve seen him, was he on That’s Life in the 70s?

Your daughter has saved your life. That’s  not even an exaggeration. You were close to suffering hypoxemia considering your age not being lower than 50 (forgive me if this is wrong 😂) you’ve had a lucky escape there burden

Another hour and you would have been in serious trouble.

Did you feel a spell of confusion? More than usual of course

Mine went as low as 92 when I had just woken up in the mornings then increased during the day which I think explained my symptom of feeling very tired, especially in the morning.

Final symptom was brain fog, local doctor referred to it as confusion, I would forget things like agreeing to tarmac a school playground and on the morning we drove to Cambridge I couldn't remember how to open the fuel filler on my car (I've only driven it for 95,000 miles). Some of the cost spreadsheets I attempted while ill were all over the place!

Also a neck ache which is still there slightly
