Another hour and you would have been in serious trouble.

Did you feel a spell of confusion? More than usual of course

Glad your allowed home. You can sleep properly now at least. Do you have a pulse oximeter at home? If not get one. Rest and if your concerned with anything at all get back to the hospital.

If this virus could be summed up in a few words, these posts have just done it.

For some, of course, recovery is relatively quick. For many the effects are significant and/or long lasting.

Had my flu jab last week, important that folk get this as soon as possible.

I’m beginning to wonder if some are susceptible and others naturally immune.

I am of the opinion that there are many more variants than just alpha, delta, mu etc. etc. and it is pot luck which one you get, some are more deadly than others and I picked up a strong un.

An oximeter, infrared ear thermometer and BP monitor can be bought all in for the price of a half decent bottle of perfume or aftershave...

I'm never surprised how many households don't have them.

I love my BP monitor when I'm in shape, and being smug about my resting heart rate and recovery times.

It's literally sobering comparing stats when drinking relatively moderately but regularly and when teetotal.

And I know those vape things incorporate glycerine - but I stayed at a house for a couple of days where two occupants vaped, so I was vaping 'passively', my SATs went to shit.

Do folk remember another smoking 'alternative' - 'Skol Bandits'? It did not end well.

I predict a vaping-related COPD timebomb.

As an aside, I was surprised how popular the 'Skol Bandit'-like 'snoogs' still are in Sweden last time I was there (ages ago tbf)...

I agree, long term, there is no way they can be good for you at all

Day after staying at this vape gaff I went on one of my twice weekly runs, I was wheezing and spluttering and had to really fight mentally not to stop and start walking barely a quarter way around my usual route.

And staying at this house was the only variable that had changed since my last run.

I think they were originally supposed to be a stop-gap weaning measure, hence the different nicotine mg contents - not to become a long-term fulltime smoking replacement.

My sister (Aspirins/Ironing Board) has been using one since the Brazil World Cup, same milligram (15mg) too, she's like a baby with a dummy with it outside of work, and has genuine fear in her eyes if she misplaces it...

The argument for vaping is that cigs have about 2385 other mad deadly compounds in them as well as nicotine...

Same sister who now vapes smoked from 14 to 49 and her eyesight is atrocious. She was trying to thread a needle with her glasses on and failing miserably once, she couldn't believe it when I took it off her and did it first time.

Difference being she probably smoked as many cigs as I've smoked in a lifetime in about three months.

Her and her late husband could've easily bought another decent semi-detached with what they wasted smoking during that 35/36 year period.

I even did the maths to rub it in.

Admittedly I could probably have a spacious Spanish villa if I hadn't supped, but at least I had my fun, and that's all that matters.

Smoking is just a shit addiction.

Glycerin based smoke was a thing used in nightclubs in the 80s. It transferred to the fire service for use in mocking up a “real life” escape from fire scenario where we filled an enclosed room to teach kids how to react in a given situation.

After a few weeks of use, we noticed all surfaces had an oily sheen and feel to them. Someone pointed out the smoke was, in fact, oil vapour and the oil on the surfaces would also be on our lungs and the lungs of school kids we’d been teaching. It was then decided this may be carcinogenic so it’s use was stopped. A few years later, ‘vaping’ became a thing. A vaping machine, in effect, is a miniature disco smoke machine; that same disco smoke which may be carcinogenic and which was no longer used.

I've got a BP monitor on my watch. When I was running, my resting heart rate was great, its now around 56-59.

Take it off when I've had a drink, its scary how much it increases.

If they branded them as a miniature disco smoke machine, I'd defo get one,

What gets me is how the fuck does a couple of lungs full of ‘vape’ be exhaled to create a billowing cloud equivalent to Mallard as it broke the land-speed record for steam locomotives
