batton carrier
cant stand him, glad he is going. Listen to 2 all day until he comes on with all that "big show" bollocks.
Site Supporter Winchester White Posted July 3, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted July 3, 2022 I rarely listen to R2, usually LBC in a morning and Virgin or my playlist in the afternoon
Site Supporter Spider Posted July 3, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted July 3, 2022 (edited) I used to listen to him as a teenager Was ok then. Just remembered that I heard him a few months back and he kept saying he was doing serious “jocking” over and over and over again. Then he played Bon Jovi and acted like he’d written and performed the song himself. Proper patting himself on the back for playing a fucking record. It was weird. DJ’s seem to often forget that their only talent is telling us what time it is and pressing play. Edited July 3, 2022 by Spider

Not in Crawley
I'm actually really gutted - always loved his shows, fantastic presenter and a lovely, lovely bloke. Bit of radio history has just gone. Very sad.

Not in Crawley
I only met him twice but in a world of showoff and wannabes he just came across a a decent bloke who was very good at what he did.
Site Supporter superjohnmcginlay Posted February 13 Site Supporter Share Posted February 13 Gutted. the radio is the best source of entertainment for me by a long way, whether it’s speech, music, news, plays, comedy can be anything. you invite dj’s in to your home, work place, car etc and they become a friend you don’t even realise how good a friend they are. Steve did it all. The amount of tributes on Twitter just show it.

Whitestar
Very private person apparently. You do tend to think of people still looking like they did when they were familiar to you though, the other week i looked up to see if i could find any people i knew at school on the internet, not many were findable but the one's i did (especially girls) looked like old ladies now, but i suppose that's coz they are. MancWanderer
Loved his afternoon show on R1 in the 80s. Still listenable towards the end of his R2 days
Site Supporter Spider Posted February 14 Site Supporter Share Posted February 14 I saw a Katie Hopkins video on Twitter earlier where she basically used his death to have a pop at the BBC, basically blaming them. I wish she'd died instead, at least that would have been funny.
