We have been to the White Rose shopping centre today and can confirm the cost of living crisis is definitely over,

Some might say there were plenty of people pre spending their benefit rises .

There were Christmas signs in every shop and did not hear anyone speaking anything other than English.

The missus dragged me to Costco on Tuesday…..she hadn’t shut up about it all week after her first visit. What a shit hole, like a cross between Bolton  Market and TK maxx with every nationality battling over a tank size trolly. The place was heaving.

Anyway I’ve now got a 9ft snowman in my front garden,

I don't mind Costco so much in terms of buying stuff from there as generally it's an in/out job and we're not browsing - the food is decent at a good price

I mind when she wants to queue for ages for 5p off a litre of petrol or whatever it is

would rather pay the full price and not queue

I also mind when she says "let's nip to costco, we're going past the trafford centre anyway" and whilst technically true it takes ages to get off the motorway and get in there

Those 4 simple words usually end up costing me a minimum of £300

Some of the pricing is really good, but go in there at the wrong time, and it's absolutely fucking heaving, generally because some folk seem to treat it as a day out and bring their entire family

You can't nip to Costco.

It's a 2 hour job easy and who the fuck needs 48 muffins?

I went to Eindhoven late 1990s for a meeting. Had a bit of time to kill after, so had a walk round. Folk there seemed noticeably fit and healthy looking, all the women were stunning, and basically everybody looked like they'd dropped off the pages of some lifestyle magazine.

The day I got back, I went to pick something up from the White Rose.

Fuck geography, I came to the conclusion that Eindhoven and the White Rose are polar opposites.

I turned a news channel on last night, and they were talking about banning Israel from the Eurovision song contest, due to ongoing safety concerns.

There should just be a blanket ban, get them banned from everything (on the international stage) and then we can move on.

I'm not sure anybody, apart from those from Israel, would give even the slightest fuck if they were banned from global events. They can just play Matkot amongst themselves, and be happy with it

Aye they were pretty much set to be banned by UEFA & potentially by FIFA. Then the ceasefire came in.

😂 my mrs is trying to get me to sign up for Bookers which is the same down here as I own a business apparently I can join.

Not a hope in hell. Already just paid a bloke 40 quid to fix the xmas lights to the front of the house. Not spending another penny on xmas decorations.

The problem I had with Cost Co was that I was the only card holder so everytime anyone wanted to go I was expected to go with them.

Well, i was looking a just hiring some ladders and doing it myself but that was 35 quid.

Bloke who did it was lovely. Had a rough time over covid, was on the ward for dying aparently. Anyway pulled through and went back to doing handy man jobs.

He's now doing my gutters and the glass back wall of the hob which cracked a week ago - all for £50.

Wish I was better at the practical stuff but for that money its easier to pay someone who can do it properly.

As a kid we used to go to Makro - my dad had a card as he was a teacher in Irlam - not sure how that worked.

I spent my time looking for cheap albums. Got Prince's Lovesexy and Bros. Cant say they were great choices.

I listened to everything prince up until 96 when he went mental with his output

I've spent time going over each album before then and ranked them

14 albums in total

Lovesexy came 14th

Alphabet Street and that's it

I always thought that would be my future retirement pastime...  both the the local roofer and builder send punters to my house after a windy day... I have a triple extension ladder... I lost heart last year when I fixed a loose ridge tile on a house, I quoted him £20 and he tried to pay me with his phone, then asked me if I had a Trustpilot site... never did get my £20!

At the moment I just look after the old dears before the gypsies come around

Wasn't Makro near Trafford Park?... I remember going there with my sister's card... she had a pharmacy shop in Tonge Moor

Makro is still going. There's one in Preston, but last time I went (a few years ago) it was basically like a Primark - loads of cheap clothes, and a few bits of tat.

Edit: Actually, I'm talking shit. I'm getting it confused with Matalan. But there is also still a Makro in Preston. I think I've only been there once, about 20 years ago, to buy a load of vodka/whiskey etc. as a favour for the landlord in my local.

What about Hanukkah; you never change 😂

Makro was ace, cheap jeans in the 90s. Costco can be fun, take the kids for samples, discover something they wouldn’t eat a bowl of. Booze can be decent, offers on meat worthwhile- it’s just a matter of timing
