  1. I just love pubs. From shitty flat council estate gaffs to cozy little gaffs in Mayfair. Proper love em. Each one has its own set of regulars, characters and history. It's ace to see a pub doing well, sad to see one in decline.

Good game. Good result. Nice football. Beat the Germans. What’s not to like?
  3. Kosher Cheifs btw
  4. I never, ever have a drink at home. I don’t drink cans or bottles so it’s the pub for me too. It’s the social side I like. I bowl three nights a week so I get to socialise anywhere from Edgerton to Ainsworth some weeks.
  5. Pulp. End the festival now because that will not be topped. fucking stubastardpendous
  6. Can't remember who we were playing but it wasn't someone with a reputation or some rivalry but as i was walking past the Wagon & Horses on Manny Rd a smallish firm crossed the road and were immediately met with Bolton rushing out of the pub to get into them, i was under pub age and stepped in there just to avoid being in the centre of it all, suddenly its just me in the centre of the bar to the left of the front door, bloke behind the bar says "yes mate?" And as some random word fell out of my mouth he says "Mixed?" And i say yeah please. First and last time I've had mixed, bet you couldn't even get that now?.

With you. Absolute shite. Like we don't already get enough PL blather. Non league football just gets more and more attractive.
  9. Went in the King Bill the day we played Wolves. Full of their fans. A load of Bolton’s ‘not rights’ walked in and into the pool room. Big Nick on the door ( who I knew from the Sweet Green) said “ I would get out now if I were you” He shut the door behind me. Next thing, pool balls, glass ash trays and other bits of detritus came flying through the windows. The door then opened with the Wolves fans scrambling to get out with the odd pool ball and cue winging past or off their heads. Anyone on here played pool that day?😊 Yep, I’ve told this story before.

Surely knock backs are all part of the game? Some you win some you lose for a multitude of different reasons? Some folk just like to get their knickers in a twist.

Good game this. Wish the grown ups were as interesting to watch
  16. The main BBC coverage is utter wank. iPlayer is deffo required.

Mad he's gone back Henderson but Tall Tommeh loves tedious slow football so he's well suited. I'm fully expecting a Hodgson Brazil 2014 world cup. Utter dog shite.

Tommy Tootal needs to look at the U21’s tonight and promote Livramento and Anderson rather than Walker and Henderson. Probably supporting Germany anyway.
  19. Loads of the pubs on the outskirts of Bolton are plenty nice and doing well. Went for a few pints in town last sat and actually thoroughly enjoyed it. Some great memories in some fore mentioned pubs above but they closed because they were shit. Drinking is coming back with the new youngsters but they don’t want to sit around chatting in a boozer anymore. My fave pastime but each to their own and all that.

Good riddance. Shove your data and analytics up your shitty arse.
  21. I do currently work in the hospitality sector, but not that type of role! Don’t blame the people that sell them; it’s the ones that buy them…

Where does it end? There’s just a clamour for more and more access and to be able to offer the ‘next’ thing. In 10 years time you’ll be able to switch to a player’s house on a match day morning and watch him have a shit and brush his teeth, all whilst he’s being interviewed by some bird asking him what he’s going to have for breakfast.

We've already been busy for God's sake. A statement said there may be more movement this week, which hasn't happened, though how that represents a "whimper" I've no idea. One player had a bid turned turned down, but we don't know what will happen over the days with that. In the end, if we have to look elsewhere, then so be it- if a player is ultimately beyond us in terms if cost, then it shows how high we're looking. A different player (3rd or 4th choice) may be perfectly capable and good enough for what we need. No one knows the size of the net they're using neither. You do have a tendency towards the negative!

I'm one of the people whose job is at risk. They're not really saving anything on staff necessarily - as the work still needs to be done. It'll just be done at a hitherto yet unnamed new organisation - that could be anywhere in the country. It's really more of a move to bring the NHS back under the control of the government as opposed to power being deferred to the regions, than to save money. Whether my job is a waste of time or not, I'll let other people to decide. I work my arse off every day for patients so I don't feel like it is. But I had 11 in my team when I joined my current organisation. I've now got 4. And they want to make us 2.5 or 2. A couple of years ago - we were the best in the country at what we did. Because we had the resource. Now we're not, because we don't. And in a few months time - we will probably deteriorate a further in terms of outcomes. The best costs money unfortunately. So it depends if you want the best or if you are happy with just good enough I suppose. And sacking managers is politically more palatable. Even though the majority of NHS managers became managers because they excelled in their clinical roles and had transferable skills. We don't have an equality tsar or anything along those lines that you hear about. Our roles are all about commissioning services (with no money) and keeping things running (with no money) primarily. God knows what will happen with fewer of us - but it remains to be seen I suppose. Incidentally - I wrote a letter of complaint to Wes Streeting outlining my concerns. Especially once I realised their had been no risk assessment which seems absolutely crazy to me. I got a very polite but ultimately meaningless letter back from one of the underlings in his office. Plenty of platitudes though - which I will add to the COVID doorstep claps I received and put on my mantelpiece if I do get the chop! 😁

Hya Si, not been on here for a while so glad to see you are making a good recovery. I've been through the wars myself and also on clopidogrel amongst other drugs for the rest of my life. The cause of my downfall was ale but been off it now for nearly two years after I was diagnosed with liver disease. Must admit I've never felt better, my weight loss was alarming and was being sick all the time but have made a full recovery so it can be done. Hope our paths cross again in the near future, you never know, I might see you on the Glasgow bound train again.
  28. Exactly, and you don't tend to see Bitter & Mild tattoos above blokes nipples these days either.
  29. I bet it's been a long week on your house Relax, plenty time yet
  30. a few things as i catch up i've wanted to go since i heard Ash smash it in 97- my missus wouldnt entertain it... maybe in 2 years, but 5 more likely if we get a camper does Matt Healy still get girls out of the crowd? bit dubious only seen a clip of FF and i hope i can catch up on so so much: Shed Seven and Elvana? the FOMO is real- especially if Pulp rock up I saw Chubby at the Apollo; he walked off stage the soft arse Labatt Ice😍- this came up last night: they gave away a free programme for the MNF game in 97 if you bought 2 bottles- £1.75 each. 32. It's ace innit. I honestly love any live music. Even if I'd never dream of listening to whoever it is or that genre, live music is just ace to watch. Even that mad cow Self Esteem. It's all ace.

Are you my Mrs in disguise 🥸 She says exactly the same mate. She's currently working a manager role in residential ... leaving a hospital position after covid. Still NHS but will never go back to a hospital setting. She got a mug for working on a cpap ward through covid. Lucky her

  37. It's all just ace really innit? Even if you don't like the band/performer, it's almost always proper heart warming. And you're always only a click away from a different stage. Glasto coverage alone is worth the licence fee for me. (Disclaimer: I might be on ecstasy)
  38. Dunno for next season. Did it for my mum’s 80th birthday a couple of years back. Cost about a grand for 10 people with 3 course meal. Was superb. Lovely to see her so made up. We beat Shrewsbury 1-0 so suspect was a mid/low game.
  39. Tell you what, if he's staying, lets knock him down, take the mik before the season starts. I know he was shit last season, but Barnsley will tell you there's a player in him. Leave the guy alone, lets judge him on the coming season, if he stays.
  40. Sorry for your loss pal
  41. Only just caught up with this. RIP CSW Feel for you @desperado

Many thanks again to you all, truly appreciate the kind words ♥ On the day in question, I went to work feeling fine. Stayed like that until about 10am when my head was absolutely pounding, at first I thought it was a tension headache or migraine, but it gradually got worse. I carried on working until about 11am when I started dropping tools as my grip had gone. By 11-15, the pain in the head was horrendous then I quickly lost feeling in my feet, my arm started with pain, and I was clinging onto the doors of the van. Directly facing where I was working in Cheetham Hill, the housing were having a HSE meeting, one came outside, saw me struggling and in severe pain but said later he thought I was pissed. By 11-30, I remember thinking to myself, I'm in serious trouble here. Tried ringing a work colleague but couldn't even speak. Luckily, we'd spoke earlier and he came flying round. We both didn't know what it was though, initially thinking blood or sugar levels. I tried speaking to my partner on her lunch break,,but was just talking broken biscuits My main manager was called and on arrival he instantly said "get him to hospital, he's having a stroke" Was taken to North Manchester General, who then blueliighted me to Fairfield. They did many tests and pumped me with all sorts, saying By 5pm if it was nipped in the bud then my speech would return. Thank God By that time it did, though after the initial meds wore off, I was stuttering for weeks, my partner lovingly christened me Arkwright ☺ For weeks after, I was regularly overwhelmed when going into Tesco for example, couldn't remember bank details, NI number, etc, took ages doing a simple text, and underwent Cardio Event Monitoring and had other scans. Thankfully all came back clear So guys and girls, take it easy please and always seek help when you're in difficulty, the first few hours were vital. Mine was classed as a TIA but my work colleague's mum had one recently and wouldn't go to hospital, poor old girl still hasn't recovered her speech yet. Thank you again one and all Si x

A massive thank you to one and all for the best wishes, very much appreciated indeed. Will pop a more detailed post later regarding what happened that day and the warning signs to look out for in case anyone else experiences it, and hopefully could be of assistance in getting the vital care needed asap. Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart and hope you're all keeping well and spouting utter shite ☺
