  1. Bolton fans always wrote off academy players. It happened with Hunt, Vela and even Clough eventually. We always want “one of our own” but then always crave experienced chest beaters instead. Everyone’s else’s players are always better than our own products. The writing off of a 22 year local old lad who has just competed his 2nd season in senior football with 30+ appearances in a promoted team is wild.

  2. I am surprised Tutu has not been retained. But can not judge the decision untill we see who comes in to replace him. Tutu for me offers a degree of versatility, buts let’s see how we line up next season. Interesting to see on the recruitment rumours so far are all about young dynamic players which is exciting but IMO we also need some older heads and someone to captain/lead the team.

  3. If that’s right (no reason to doubt you) then fair enough. Clearly wants to be closer to home and who knows it might have been a better offer. He will have known it right through the play offs and still was up there for 3 motm awards - he ended up playing left back in the final and still looked decent. Well done to him and he’ll get a warm reception from me when we play them this season.

  4. I hope we can recreate the white wall from Wembley this season… looked fantastic at Wembley I might even get a 70s BWFC shirt to play my part as I’ve never been a shirter.

  5. I can only speak for myself, but I've waited a long time for these matches and I'm not going to let an extra £10 stop me having the memories they will create, and the anticipation & enjoyment of going to the bigger games. Season tickets already purchased are an absolute bargain so I'm lucky home games aren't a consideration. If someone had said pay £10 a week extra last season not to be watching those dross L1 teams I'd have coughed up £20 and said keep the change.

  7. Conway cant even do basic defending a lot of the times. Out of position frequently and gives his man far too much space.

  8. We had about eight nine players going into their last 12 months of their contracts. Only Sheehan was addressed So i have no problem with the likes of TuTu, Dempsey, Johnston talking with other clubs.....All three acted proffesionally and got us over the line.....All will be welcomed back

  10. I’m getting used to your categoric definitive claims 😂 You and everybody including blind people (low bar) can see he’s a better midfielder.. …yet to this point Schumacher and his previous two managers haven’t seen this. Im not saying you’re not allowed to have an opinion and Im not saying that MC hasn’t shown glimpses of midfield qualities. Maybe you are being contrary for a reaction and including a WB as a midfielder.. But I fail to see how you’re right (he’s a better midfielder) and his previous 3 managers are wrong (playing him as a FB and WB)

  12. Was about to make the same post. At times, Conway gets pelters from some who can’t see the bigger picture. For me, Conway is a better all-round player than Tutu.

  13. Exactly why Conway looks like a lamb to the slaughter on that side with Gale and no EE to drop in.

  16. Same story as with George Thomason. The amount of stick he used to get from our own fans was unreal. Although I do agree with other posters in that another year in League 1 might be the making of him.

  17. I got no end of shite for saying Conway will gravitate to midfield. But he will.

  18. I think a few of us forget that Conway was injured in the latter part of the season. After being an ever-present at Crewe in 2024/25, and then playing most of the season, he picked up a knock and was missing for a few games. I think SS then protected him a little by playing GJ at left back and Forino at left centre back (where he didn’t look comfortable). A few weeks off and then pre-season buildup, and we might see a fitter, stronger and, yes, quicker Conway by the start of the season.

  20. Robin Williams and Ricky Hatton weren't short a bob or 2. Sterling went from being one of the top players in the league and for his county to being unable to get a game. Got to do a number on the old noggin.

  22. I think JOT is well ahead of Conway personally He was getting bombarded in the second-half of the second-leg and dealt with practically everything thrown his way

  23. He got to the end of his contract, he had every right to get the best deal he could. As much as I'd like to have kept him as you say for his versatility (and ability), its unlikely we'd be offering him a 3 year deal when in all likelihood we'd be signing a RB and he wouldn't be first choice. Same with GJ, I think he could do a job in the squad but he's out of contract and he'll get the best deal he can, and that's unlikely to be with us.

  24. Reading between lines I'm convinced he wasn't 'not retained' so much as 'he'd accepted a deal with a different club' ... so we either didn't offer him at all or our offer wasn't as good as (as it turned out) Charlton's. Anyway. Cheers & best wishes.

  27. Wow, that's asking a hell of a lot from Captain Facetious. Anyway, back to the point: producing more of our own oil isn't going to suddenly drop the price, nor is it going to suddenly provide energy security. Nevertheless, it should be done, to help us on that path, and avoid dealing with evil twats across the waters, where possible. Getting the SoH reopened is the big one.

  28. I personally loved all the fellow footy fans I met in London town. Pretty much every single one of them spoke about Wanderers very highly. Arsenal, West Ham, Spurs fans. It felt great to wear our famous white across the capital.

  29. We played in it on that occasion as we were drawn as the away team but Gretna asked to move the match to Burnden, probably for safety and money reasons.

  43. No not endemic, there are folk who will vote Labour or Conservative no matter what but you only gain experience through age, and in those years most people tend to become more financially involved (car, home, kids, new tech gadgets, etc) and start to lean towards the party that now better represents them (tax cuts, rather then austerity by having to fill billions of pound into blackholes in the economy from previous governments)). Reform seems to have added another layer to that in painting a picture of how idealised things used to be - less crime, a founded NHS that meets the needs of the sick, a time before Islam in the UK, before the illegals came on the boats, when council housing was easily available, before the Asian grooming gangs, before all the wokery began, in short a return to the 1960's. That's what people want and will vote for the promise of it (say whatever you need to to get their votes) but delivering on the promises will not be achievable other wise Labour and the Conservatives before them, would have done it by now. I'm very much a cynic when it comes to politics (read that as power) you only have to see the likes of Jenrick jump party's to get it, or what they did to Thomas Massie in the US a week or two ago. Talking of Jenrick...

  44. Yes I went to that match and was shocked to see Bolton fans walking down Green St chanting "Where's your famous ICF " a couple of hours before kick off. These just seemed high spirited lads off the Travel club coaches rather than the Tonge Moor mob.I also saw the Bolton fans in the Boleyn Tavern, again couldn't believe it.I went in the same Stand as the Bolton fans as a lone wolf in the West Ham section. It wasn't particularly hostile or angry but i did get a dig in the back when West Ham scored probably i was sussed for not celebrating enough.

  45. I think that's setting us up for a lot of moaning when that doesn't happen. I'm saying its unrealistic for a team that's had a lot of struggles in L1 this season, not to have a lot more struggles in the championship. I'd snatch your hands off not necessarily to just avoid relegation on the last day, but to never be in the bottom 3 - basically the season Charlton have just had. But let's be realistic, the likes of Sheff U, WBA, Norwich and Leicester were in the bottom 3 for long spells last season. We are starting as the worst side out of 24, its a bit early to say there's nothing to worry about in the championship without seeing what team we can put out in August/September.

  46. Good post. There’s fine lines that are debated to hell after defeats/poor spells. Some of it good, some of it poor IMO I don’t mind the grumpiness, the fan opinion, the debate about players, formations, tactics etc. That’s why we are here. The line gets crossed for me when folk become categoric about football players and management. Writing players off after a bad game, insisting that changing things to suit their opinion will make THE difference, and calling their opinion out to make more sense than what the manager is currently doing as if they hold a UEFA A license and have multiple years of coaching experience at a high level. Very different to me than a healthy debate about differing fan opinions. Some folk, this season, were very negatively catergoric about certain players - who helped us get promotion and about SS and his tactics - which also led us to promotion. It would be nice to think, that next season, the debate that follows defeats/bad spells is reasonable and rational (after the in game hysterics 😂), keeping pitchforks well and truly buried, while being aware of our realistic goals and targets.

  47. Its easy to say without being in that situation but how can you spend 3 seasons building a team to win promotion then just leave at the first opportunity to a not very massive club? Obviously the money will be miles better but come on man. At least do a season. I hope Lincoln stay up and he gets sacked after 10 games the silly cunt.

  48. Bit surprised by the reaction to VAR on here. For me Sunday was an advertisement for why it was introduced. Challinor, who is imo a great manager, is arguing we should not have it because we get away with those fouls normally. With promotion worth £mms missing the trip on GJ could have changed the game and it was 100% right call to give a free kick The penalty again by the rules is the right call, but it highlights what a bad rule it is. JDC put his hand out and with a short haired player catches his shirt and I bet nothing given as he released immediately , because he caught his hair ….penalty and red card !! Way too extreme but that is the rules not VAR. Sunday showed why VAR was introduced and did a good job. Mentioned before. We were sat behind camera man so could see replays and knew they were going our way. I do think the message re penalty could have been clearer.
