I think the point being raised is he could have held the 3 subs back for a few more minutes while we had them on the ropes to see if we could get something.

But tomski said the subs "killed the game", which they clearly didn't, as we scored.

Spot on.

Reading some posts above about our stats after 65 or 70 mins and “only” trying after that when it was too little too late.

Our 10 men wouldn’t have been able to attack (with our style of play) for 60 minutes - they would just be knackered. The only way of managing the game was to try and grab a goal without too much exertion and be in it with a 15 mins to go. Then go for it for that shorter spell.

Not pretty, but at 2-0 down with 10 men after 40 mins, I think anyone would have taken a scenario where we had the last 10 mins to find an equaliser.

Decent second half

We've actually done ok when Santos has been missing previously.

Glass half full..

Our Captain Fantastic has been shown to be more of a Corporal Clott at times in the last couple of matches. He's a decent third division defender. Apart from his speed he's ordinary.

From my memory of yesterday, the "momentum" we had was mainly that spell of about 5 corners when we were very unlucky not to score, but it felt out of kilter with what had gone before, when a goal looked a long way off despite our possession.  The 3 subs had been stood waiting to come on for several minutes, it just happened to coincide with the one spell of excitement we had all game upto that point.  When the decision was made to bring them on, the game was dead at 0-2 and no sign of a goal.  Also JDB hobbled off, it felt right to not put him through any more chasing about up front on his own, with the game gone realistically.  It was also the last chance to make a sub, if only one had come off at that point no more were allowed, being the 3rd sub occasion.

As @desperado says, the 2nd half was decent and we avoided both a "0-4" or going 3 games without scoring.  Job done 2nd half really, getting a point wasn't realistic once the 2nd went in.

I didn't imply anywhere that we didn't try , I just feel the overly Negative substitution didn't help to get us back level , the stats at 65 minutes show us winning possession comfortably so some exertion must have been used . Anyway onto the next game and hopefully some  players can get these 2 games out of there system.

Bit of statistical perspective : we have amassed 39 points up to this point two more points than we accrued up until the new year last season (with three games still to play) & one point more than our second half total at this point.

No need to panic captain Mainwaring.

I’d think the last 2 results will have Evatt looking more keenly at recruitments in January, think it is vital we get the recruitment right.

Baxter's positioning for the sending off is farcical.  Santos getting pelters but his only mistake was to miscontrol the ball, when that happens 40 yards from goal it shouldn't be an automatic open goal for the opposition.

2nd goal, what a horror show.

Got to agree

Dunno why Baxter went for a walk, absolutely no need for it

Shit happens. They're only human.

Not to confuse mistakes with tactics though.

Like 11 back at corners and still leaving players unmarked on the edge of the box, its the way we play, not to do with being human or making a mistake.  Arguments for and against both, but I do struggle with the GK at right back one.

For the last couple of seasons, Trafford then Baxter have effectively been an 11th outfield player and in making himself available for an easy pass from Santos. That Santos then miscontrolled the ball obviously wasn’t part of the plan and it ended up compounding the issue. Shit doesn’t happen too often but this incident was pretty shit!
