I saw something that raised an eyebrow with me today.

Something along the lines of the last couple of weeks have taken their toll on him and he'll consider his options at the end of the season.

Sounded a bit like a thinly veiled 'stop moaning or I'm off'

Not great is it.

Not the first pop neither.

Some justification in fairness, but I doubt it's much different at any decent sized, ambitious club.

His style and philosophy may well be suited to a higher league, with it's better pitches, but he/we have to earn that place first.

Maybe Big Sam could have a word about being thick skinned.

I've just realised this is being discussed at length on the other thread!

I'm a creature of habit though - it takes a lot for me to open a new thread! 😂

Sounds more like its been a tough few weeks and im a bit weary

In the summer ill weigh it all up but for now, im focussed on promotion

Whether weighing it up involves walking away, who knows?

Daft thing is, i actually read iles piece and it read as a more sympathetic tone than he often manages

Id need to hear the interview, i dont think the words tell us enough

He’s still under contract isn’t he? Walking away would be both costly and difficult I’d have thought and where to anyway. He’d struggle to get a better gig than he’s got here anywhere at a club of our size.

Im not the one reading it as a threat to walk

I'm not sure what it means at all, but it's a bloody strange thing to let out the day before such a big game.

Or he’s had his words twisted or been misquoted.

Sheff Weds got 96 points last season and didn’t go up automatically.

After our shit week only Pompey averaging more than 2 points a game so 92 looking like a decent target for automatics this time.

Even that’s a tough ask which makes it essential we beat Barnsley tonight, not just for our own total but to prevent them getting near it. Same goes for the likes of Derby, Posh and Stevenage if we seriously expect top two all of these games are true “six Pointers” in its truest sense and any slip ups will cost us. A draw or two may still be ok but we mustn’t lose any or certainly not more than one preferably Stevenage.

In one one post you go from having to beat Barnsley, Derby, Posh (Pompey?) and Stevenage (no slip ups) to maybe accepting a couple of draw to then losing one… 😂

Anyone thinking about  I did not go Saturday and following a game on social media, here , betting apps etc is 100% worse than making the effort.

Surely we get over 2000 ? Think Gonzo pointed out we took more than that to Blackpool is Pizza Cup.

Barnsley are probably the most 'solid' team in the promotion hunt. Very organised and everyone knows their job. We all know exactly how they will play and how they will try and stop us playing.

Given this you would hope that we can come up with a half decent plan to combat this based on our strengths.

Let's just go there and fucking batter them.

To be fair, Barnsley are nothing like they were last season. They're a bit direct on throws and set pieces, but they're miles more open than nowadays.

The Home game against them was really end to end and a good pace about it too.

The defensive solidity they had last season has escaped them. As I mentioned in a previous post, whilst they have scored in their last 16 games, they've also only managed 1 clean sheet in the same period
