It's the modern game pal.

I see it every week in junior football.

Keepers aren't just keepers anymore.

Yeah in terms of using keepers to retain the ball I agree. Not sure I ever see the keeper for any team in that position though

Absolutely.

It's not a black/white situation.

Being available to receive a pass is one thing, but simply reading the game and as Evatt always says "finding their own solutions" is another.

They are professionals and well up the football hierarchy, with a brain of their own.

It was a collective cock up.

I’m just glad he’s back.

Agreed, he’s better than but Coleman, but Coleman’s been fine and got better. So he’s done his job.

Can’t have been helped by the defensive f*ck up in his first 5 mins of league football for us at Northampton.

Coleman is fine when he's not running off line for no reason.

Agree on all that. No dislike or blame on Coleman who has come in and done a job and may be needed again.

That said we concede less with Baxter in net.

Rico was to blame for the goal in the home game.

The other factor on the Coleman/Baxter debate is the confidence the defence have in the keeper , Coleman's regular darts off the line when he was first in the team affected the defence, so as he has settled down the defences confidence has also increased. The fact people  are asking if Baxter should come straight back in shows how Shaggy has improved

I make this the 2nd or 3rd toughest game of the final 5

I just cant see us winning it, unless everything flies in and then it could be 5 0

Def due a nice walk in the park away

Keepers are taught to play and position themselves as an extra defender. They’ll have sessions purely on passing/distribution where they won’t even don their gloves. They have briefs of where to be in and out of possession, with directives on controlling the pace of the game.

If you see a keeper making a flying acrobatic save, there is a good chance his position was off, but he was set- not a bad thing, but the best keepers make it look easy

Charles to miss a sitter and Baxter to concede a howler

You cant see us winning it? Not won in 5, not scored a goal in 5!  Shit!, forgot, its Bolton! I am expecting a convincing win, get some of that goal difference back.

Depends on how Taylor sets them up. We were "passive" at Stevenage because Evans set them up to defend in banks and try to hit us on the break so Santos had to stand on it to try to draw them out and ended up hoofing it a lot whereas Reading tried to play and we carved them up. Some Gas fans reckon Taylor will go for it and there's no question they want to beat us so (obviously) we need to bring our best game.

Coleman getting better every game. Shows what a run of games can do.

On the keeper debate,   pre season the no1 was up for grabs, we as fans didn't know who it was gonna be.   Baxter grabbed and ran with it, top keeper and undoubtedly no1.

Coleman came in and as games have gone on he has got better,  he is a great 'shot stopper' but as we all know his judgement and timing coming out is so so poor,  feel for the lad as am sure he knows he has only been a stand in.

Baxter plays.   (Amazed if he doesnt)
