SalCity Biggie Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 (edited) I'm hoping that some of you lovely lot would like to indulge in a bit of fantasy squad building for next season. Realistically, who do you think we could sign or make a transfer offer for? I don't think TAA will be on our shortlist, but what additions would you realistically like to see? Would love Smalls from Charlton at Left Back as well but think he's had offers from Championship clubs already. Quote
gonzo Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 The only other players I know about at our level are players I've noticed against us and the odd Blackpool player I hear about. So with that in mind I hope we sign Erahon from Lincoln, those two itchy trickies from Crawley and Ennis from Stoke. Never heard of any of the rest Quote
Zog1 Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 All depends what formation we'll end up with but here are some of my picks. Jordan Thompson - CDM - young enough - Stoke Sam Bell - left wing - Young, fast, can score Ryan Hedges - left and right winger - lives locally Lynden Gooch - right winger - Stoke Niall Ennis - Stoke Emil Riis - target man - lives locally Quote
Cheese Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 I'd never heard of a single one of our current players before they signed for us, so I've absolutely no idea who we should be looking at for the future. It's been like that since day dot for me. Anelka and Gary Speed are probably the only exceptions. Maybe Diouf. Obviously I learn about a players history after they sign, but I just have no interest in football outside of BWFC, other than important England games. And the occassional relapse into my Champ Manager addiction, where I manage Rushden & Diamonds until I get the sack and immediately retire. Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 It'd probably be a good idea looking at players due to be released from Plymouth Argyle We'll probably sign at least one Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 It's maybe a bit early to speculate on a lot of those in that list as they're only coming to end of contract, not necessarily being released. It'll become a lot clearer the week after next when all those not in play offs will publish retained lists Quote

Good question and someone I’d love to see here for one year or Michael Smith from Wednesday, Niall Ennis or as long as Orient don’t go up Charlie Kelman on loan if he’s not going back to QPR. Poku is leaving Posh and is Kane Wilson signing another contract at Derby and would we like Barry Bannon back for a year? If we really want to go up this season though we do need to be looking at a few experienced Championship players and above instead of L1 or L2 irrespective of age. Quote
Blondi Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 (edited) If SS does go in for a couple of players that he knows, I wouldn't be surprised to see Niall Ennis and Jordan Houghton approached . Edited April 25, 2025 by Blondi Quote

You on an old desktop ? Quote
SalCity Biggie Posted April 25, 2025 Author Posted April 25, 2025 You can down load the classic championship manager 01/02 version for free, just need to Google it. They even did an updated roster patch too Quote
only1swanny Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 Be happy with some league one journeyman who just gets on. IE and CM built a team of "luxury" players that left too many basics missing. Can get away with one or two but we've got a team full Quote
Arrested development Posted May 4, 2025 Posted May 4, 2025 Not sure how accurate this list is. Cogley is on it and he signed another 1 year deal recently. I think Ennis is definitely going to be on the list of targets. Schumacher said he wants a striker that runs in behind and Ennis definitely did that against us. I really like Jordan Gabriel from Blackpool. I think he could do a job in the championship. If we could tempt him that would be a good signing. Kwame Poku will deffo end up in the championship, too good for league 1. Josh Koroma would be someone i'd want. We need direct pacy wingers and he is that. Not sure of his injury record but he might also be looking to go to the championship. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted May 4, 2025 Posted May 4, 2025 It'll all become a lot clearer and more interesting to look at by the middle of this week when all bar those in the play offs will probably have put their retained lists out Quote
Lostock Whites Posted May 4, 2025 Posted May 4, 2025 Another sign of the horrific management from the board was the timing of the sacking led to us missing out on James Collins in January, who ended up at Lincoln instead, scored a bunch of goals and against us to. Talking about shooting yourself in the foot. A free signing similar to that would be most welcomed. Quote
tomski Posted May 4, 2025 Posted May 4, 2025 Was just gonna put the bar is low If we are gutted to not sign 35 year old James Collins. Then I realised it really is low😂 Quote
Whitesince63 Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 Trouble is L1 is such a diverse league with teams who like to play it around and those that are just physical so we need a broad squad to cope with that. At the moment we have nothing to compete with the physical teams so so for sure we need a big physical presence up front who can bring the likes of Collins and Randall into play. There are a few like that available like Danny Ward. Michael Smith, Nakhi Wells, Ashley Barnes and Fletcher and Mullins at Wrexham.. They’re all in their 30’s, probably would be content not starting every week and have bags of experience higher up the leagues, wouldn’t cost a fee nor expect excessive wages. Add similar to the midfield and Central defence and we’re nearly there. Quote
tomski Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 I suspect everyone on that list would want decent wages Quote
