Prone to the occasional mistake but come on, they both bring something to the table despite being played out of position, left exposed by a system very geared to open attacking football and wingers/wingbacks who can’t defend. I had a pop at Gale for not tracking, but in his defence, his cross for Sam’s header was on the money for once. Sure it would be great to sign top class defenders, but with our finances we won’t so we need to be careful about throwing the baby out with the bath water, especially if we’re in this league again next season. These comments are made on every game thread. We all have different views on who we think is good enough, both for whatever league we will be in next season. I don't entirely agree with him about the defenders, as (as is stated above), we play a very attack minded line up, which does leave the defence exposed at times. Quote

He’s thanking them for their service and bidding them goodbye! They’ve got some of the biggest games of their career just ahead of them….playing for BWFC. I wouldn’t be thanking anyone for their service just yet. It’s nonsense talk in my opinion. Quote

It's just not a strong part of his game. But realistically that is the profile of most wingers. How much does Jeremy doku track back? How much does Anthony Gordon track back? How much did Martin petrov track back? Answer is not very often . But they were still and are great players. When did we start judging wingers by how much defending they are doing. Its about what they do going the other way that's most important. Gale isnt always consistent but he's been good more than bad IMO. Quote

We're all entitled an opinion, but I respectfully disagree. He's lazy, petulant and lacks positional awareness. But yeah, he's quick when he can be bothered. PS I never mentioned his defending or tracking back. You did that. Edited 23 hours ago by Traf Quote

Not sure if its the same hobble that resulted in him being subbed off on Tuesday. Fingers crossed anyway. Iles said in BN this morning he's been carrying a mild ankle issue for a couple of games. Some of this is less about the player, more about the manager, repeatedly asking people to do things that aren't their skill set. Gale did ok first half, one great cross Dalby should have converted, but generally couldn't get on top of Sorensen. It was clear as day him and GJ (another being asked to play out of position) were a big risk, Sorensen and Harness were all over them. SS should have seen it and been decisive, however pissed off Gale might have been. Quote

Compare him to ACD, who does get back and help. But if as you say judge him on his attacking, he never looked like going past the right back, he came short for a corner once ( well twice actually but first time did not get the ball) he also made little effort to be open whereas ACD looks hungry. If we play a centre back at left back and the winger does not track then teams target this as they did yesterday and we are exposed. Not all Gales fault but he has to do better as he has in other games this season Quote
masi 51 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Some on here really do not have a clue by comparing one winger with another. One is a player who is premiership ready now, and will likely go for a 8 figure fee in the next couple of years. The other is a decent lge 1 winger who needs work on his defending and decision making if he is to get any higher than where he is currently playing. Gale is not our biggest problem. Our defence is limping to the season end and needs overhauling before next August Quote

As much as this is the case - there’s also a responsibility of the centre mids to get over and help out where they can see that Gale is out of position / know he’s not the best at tracking back. It’s a consequence of having Sheehan and Rodrigues in a midfield 2 - they’re brilliant together and have many positives, but if you have Erhahon as your left centre mid then he’d pull over and help GJ out more as it’s more natural to him. The pros / cons and balancing act of setting the team up. In an ideal world you have another ACD on the left who offers genuine cover to the full back and therefore your midfield 2 can focus on what they’re good at. But we’re league 1, it’s unlikely you’re going to have that perfect set up and that’s where SS has to work out his best set up that reduces risks whilst maximising other areas. Quote

You both right, there is a collective responsibility in a team and having RR and Sheehan as our only 2 midfielders is going to leave us exposed at times When Gale is having a good day and causing them problems it is a fair risk. Saturday he was not doing this and we were vulnerable down that side. A combination of Gale, centre half at left back and the midfield 2. It was obvious. Their first 2 goals and the red card were a direct result of this. It is a dilemma for Schuey as both Sheehan and RR also bring a lot to the team IMO more than Erahahon despite the fact he does make us more solid. Quote

BoltonPro15 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Think we need to just accept that Gale is this years scapegoat and move on. It was GT last year, JDC at the start of this season and now it naturally has to be somebody else's turn. Fans need to have individuals to blame Quote

Johnnyrotten Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I bet Spurs fans have a few scapegoats, but to us non-Spurs fans its just players that aren't playing very well, or aren't very good in the first place (at Prem level). Quote
