Injuries and fatigue are evident, so why are they going at it like this. Big Sam was revolutionary in his approach to protecting players, yet it seems that it hasn't necessarily caught on. I guess some are so ultra-competitive that they cant switch it off . Gary Speed nearly decapitated Ivan Campo in training . Campo had to wear a face brace for a few months after . Quote

Krimzon Posted April 14 Posted April 14 For anyone that watches live matches from the Wanderers TV site , The Stevenage match is not currently available thru BWFC.CO.UK tho audio commentary is . This may change but I suspect its because its on SKY TV red button or whatever it is . For anyone that doesnt have sky , it is available via NOWTV for a day pass for £14.99 . Tho a monthly pass maybe better as that will cover the play offs . Quote
woolli Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Anyone in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria, the match is on in Stanleys Bar in the main commercial centre. Quote

BSA had the training load reduced to avoid general fatigue and related injuries though. Quote

The players have had a few days off over the last weeks, maybe when there in they put that much more effort into training. Quote

masi 51 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Some players are not naturally gifted at football two in our squad that come into mind are Johnston and Erhahon but what sets them apart from more natural players are that they have a winning mentality, be it football or Monopoly with the family when all they want to do is beat their ten year olds. Asking these players to hold back in anything in life is not going to get through to them Quote

Asking these players to hold back in anything in life is not going to get through to them Erhahon was probably Lincoln's best player last season and a combination of an initial lack of fitness added to a couple of injury niggles and a loss of form means he hasn't had a proper run in the team and hasn't hit the levels he did at Lincoln. A fit and on-form Erhahon would give the team far more balance as we're short of left footed players willing to stick a foot in. I agree that he's probably not the best footballer, but does have that will to win. In fact, he's very ungainly and looks almost awkward when playing, but there's definitely a player there. As for Johnston, I think we've seen the best of him already. Yeah, he's committed, but isn't tall, isn't quick and isn't that physical. He does read the game fairly well, but like most defenders in L1, his decision making and reaction time is poor. That said, he's probably no worse than Toal and only marginally worse than Forino. Whitestar Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I used to think Toal had a bit of composure about him , bit like a poor mans Paul Jones but these days he seems terrified and looks worse and worse every game. Quote
masi 51 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 (edited) If we dont go up in May just like i rate Ng at Right full back who is one of Cardiffs better players but out of contract in June Tonight Stevenage have Dan Phillips central midfielder who is also out of contract come June. He kicked everything that moved when we played them down there earlier in the season. Another i would be happy to go for in the summer Edited April 14 by masi 51 Quote
Tombwfc Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Quotes from SS in the paper today about not wanting to play 5-3-2. Basically says we didn't create enough when we've tried it and we're at our best playing wingers. Which I think is fair enough when one of those wingers is ACD, less so when it comes to the others. Quote
bolton va va Posted April 14 Posted April 14 After a bit of "research" it seems that Stevenage are very dependent on set pieces, long throws & free kicks being lumped into our area so i'd very much hope that Forino starts. If he's fit, Kenny should start after Burstow's pisspoor showing at Cardiff, & Rodrigues deserves a start but i don't know how we can shuffle our available midfield players to stand up to what could be quite a physical battle. Lostock Whites Posted April 14 Posted April 14 (edited) Negativity aside, I wouldn't be surprised if Schuey has been telling them all that this is the perfect game for us right now. Horrible but highly effective team, play off rival that could go level points with us. If we secure play offs then this will be a great marker and practice run ahead of the real thing in May. If the players can get up for this game then the season might as well end now. We have some issues technically that we need to change in the summer. But right now, what the hell is the point being so negative (talking more so to the players here), looking down at the floor and feeling sorry for ourselves. I think that's what every supporters biggest gripe was with the Cardiff game. Yes they're a good team, but we have beaten them before, deservedly so, they were in poor form and under pressure, young team too. Yet we looked like the team under pressure, no confidence whatsoever, no player taking initiative and being brave defensively and offensively. I feel pretty confident saying that our promotion hinges on the mentality of the players. When we play with confidence and determination we beat anybody in this league. I'm not really worried about Bradford this, Stockport that, Stevenage etc. The biggest opponent we have to get past to get promoted is ourselves. I'm concerned about which Bolton Wanderers is going to turn up. Are we going to turn up in confidence and fight? Or gonna turn up heads down, not really bothered, slow to everything and feel sorry for ourselves? I guess we will see. Edited April 14 by Lostock Whites Quote

I said the other day I expect the current 4 in the playoffs to be in them come the end of the season. Not sure on what order but regardless of who we play and whether we are home or away 1st, whoever we play the games are going to be physical, scrappy and tight. Playing them all in the last 4 weeks of the season could be a blessing. Quote
Eddie Posted April 14 Posted April 14 How refreshing would it be to see us have some proper urgency and energy in the first 5 minutes. I’m a big believer in setting the tone - Cardiff did it on Saturday and we never recovered, they were all over us like a rash in those first 5 minutes, didn’t score but there was almost an inevitability set. Our players looked shell shocked, any plans seemed to be out of the window and it was damage limitation from then on. We could do the same tonight, but it’s completely against our slow and steady careful, brake on attitude. Quote
